View Full Version : Moo2u's Amazing Awesome Adventures! (featuring Friend Dave)

So, I'm sure you're all wondering why I haven't been posting this past weekend. "Has Moo2u deserted us?" some may say. "Why would he do that?" others may say. But fear not, I was just on a pilgrimage of rock to witness Red Hot Chili Peppers in Quebec, and it was full of awesomness.

Chapter 1: The Bus
So it was Friend Dave and I off on our whirlwind adventure. It started at the bus station. Our bus arrived and we took our seats on the damn crowed bus complete with all the bus passenger stereotypes. The creepy old guy no one wants to sit next too, students trying to get home cause they ran out of money, the giggling group of asian girls, the big fat guy sitting in front of you and makes awkward noises, the hobo asking for food (I gave him a turkey sandwich with cheddar, red peppers and dijon mustard; the travel sandwich of kings!) 10 minutes before the bus leaves, Friend Dave realises he doesn't have his tickets for the bus on him. Friend Dave is bad at planning. He runs back to the coffee shop we were at and finds them on the ground outside, all individually ripped, but still good. He gets back just as the bus was leaving. CLOSE CALL!!

We had a pit stop in a small town, Friend Dave and I meet a group of white gangstas. One complemented me on my mini harmonica necklace, saying that it was quote, "pimpin'" and that he wanted it. I politely told him that if he's heading toward the Maritimes he could probably find one, to which he replied, "aw, hell yea." Friend Dave and I walked to the convenient store to pick up some provisions for our journey. On the way, we saw lots of jerky...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers008.jpg
Hmm...that's alot of jerky....

When we got back to waiting, white gangsta 1 (who complemented me on the necklace) was rapping about how he can't rap, with gangsta 2 who was doing a Metallica guitar riff on an accostic he had, and gangsta 3 who was beatboxing. There was also irritable gangsta 4, who yelled at everyone who looked in his general direction, and said numerous times how he, "f*ckin' wants some pussy." I assumed he missed his cat.

Eventually Friend Dave and I crossover to another bus witch was less crowed. In fact, no one was on it. It was our bus. The party bus of awesomeness. We took up as much room as we possibly could, and played my DS with the volume on high. Who's gonna stop us? The other passengers? I don't think so!

Eventually we get to Quebec City at 3:30 in the morning.

To be continued...

Chapter 2: The Streets

When we last left Moo2u he and Friend Dave got off their extremely long bus ride at Quebec City, ready to immerse themselves in the fascinating French-Canadian culture...however it would seem to be 3:30 at night, and the bus station was closed so we couldn't leave our belongings in lockers. There was a mean French security guard who had a handlebar moustache and who couldn't speak any English who shooed us away from the doors. He was rather rude. Want a fascinating French-Canadian culture this is indeed...

Oh, and by the way, apparently French-Canadians don't like pipes or dubies...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers017.jpg

So, without further ado, Friend Dave and I walked cheerfully to old Quebec, singing a merry tune, while at the same time having no idea where we were going. Eventually, I found a center downtown street that I've been to before, and lucky, so had Dave. Dave directed us to a youth hostel where he and his girlfriend had been before for…naughty things… We got there and asked for some cheep rooms, but the guy there said all the male only dorms were already taken. I said we wouldn’t mind spending the night in the female dorm rooms; it didn’t work.

That would have been our cheapest place to spend the night, which was a major let down. Luckily, the guy at the front desk gave us a valuable item: You Got a Map of Downtown Quebec City --- equip with C button.

Too bad this map didn’t have any other hotels marked down on it. However, it did have a tourist information spot marked on it. So we walked to that side of the city, passing hotels that looked more expensive than all the beef jerky in the world to stay there. We also say this cool Homer clock!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers011.jpg
His eyes follow the beer! Sweet!

Naturally, the tourist information place was closed, as it was around 4:30 now. “So we have no where to stay the night?” asked Friend Dave. “For now,” replied I. “So we’re hobos?” asked Friend Dave. “For now…” replied I. So we when looking for more cheep hotels, which no luck at all. However, we endured it, knowing that tomorrow we shall see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers…and it shall be good.

…here are some Tales of Rejection!

1) We walked into the hotel, which looked rather nice, and the rates weren’t crazy. We knocked on a door inside, waking up a woman. She asked how we got in, and said the front door was supposed to be locked. See politely showed us out and locked the door behind us.
2) We open a door to another hotel. An alarm goes off. Moo2u and Friend Dave run away into the night very quickly.
3) We find a 2 star hotel called “Hippo Center,” at least the sign on the front said it was a hotel. Right away I had a bad feeling about this place. Inside was red light and the doors had seahorses on it. We went inside, at there was an evident security camera in one corner. The doors were locked on the inside, so we left. On the way out we saw a rainbow flag over the door and that the “o” from hippo and “c” from centre formed interconnecting male signs. Moo2u and Friend Dave ran away very very quickly.

So with no luck and things getting colder (and starting to rain) Friend Dave and I wandered creepy streets of old Quebec. Finally, we got refuge at a bus stop. It was cold, but at least we were sheltered from the rain. Dave text messaged his girlfriend saying he’s sleeping on the streets tonight, and I played my old harmonica I carried around. Yeah…I think we were officially hobos…

What will become of poor Moo2u and Friend Dave?! Tune in next time to find out!

Chapter 3: Shops

And lo, did Moo2u and Friend Dave spend the night on the streets of Quebec City. Luckily, 5 o’clock rolled around, and as the sun started to rise, the bus station opened. Weary and tired, Friend Dave and I walk into the bus station to get a better sit down. We tried to sleep on the wonderfully uncomfortable chairs, however that wretched French security guard we met before wouldn’t let us sleep there. Whenever we started to doze off, he would rudely awake us. You think he’d be use to seeing travelers asleep in the bus station at this hour. Needless to say, he was a jerkface.

Luckily, the train station was connected to the bus station, so Friend Dave and I walked over there. It was much nicer, roomier, less crowed, and the chairs were slightly less uncomfortable. We caught some Zs there, but not much; I kept on suddenly waking up in my chair. Finally, when we both realized we weren’t going to get much sleep, no matter how hard we try, we left. Unpleasantly, we woke up to see that security guard gazing angrily at us, sitting down a couple of rows ahead of us. We left quietly.

...jerkface...

We left the bus station still not fully awake, but at least shops were open at that point. We returned to the tourist information centre we found that past night to find the location of the concert. Then we found the closest restaurant by there and got the biggest damn breakfast we could. We deserved it, damn it! Friend Dave even got Orange Juice Champagne! Good for Friend Dave!

We still had the rest of that day to waist before the concert, so we continued to explore old Quebec. There were many shops that tickled my fancy, and tickle they did!

One included this 365 day a year, 2 storied Christmas shop. Twas a magical wonderland of lights, expensive nutcrackers, and stockings with every character imaginable on them.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers023.jpg

There was a Santa hat which I simply had to buy. Come December, I’m going to ware it with pride.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers061.jpg

There were many other shops we wasted money in, but then suddenly, Friend Dave and I had to go on a rather expensive car case! Friend Dave drove while I manned the guns to shoot down the rascals ahead of us!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers027.jpg

Check it out! We got the high score! In your face Tats and Sige!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers028.jpg

Finally, we needed to find a restaurant to go have lunch at before we head off to the show. We needed to find the hippest place for only the hippest cats in Quebec. And yes, we actually did pass up this Oh-So-Classy Burger King…
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers029.jpg
…although, I must admit, that is the classiest Burger King I’ve ever seen…

We found a place called Cosmos which seemed needlessly hip. They had round bar chairs, weird sculptures, and weird food they named in a space theme (I had the artichoke heart pizza named the "Asteroid Pizza") Yes, this place seemed needlessly hip enough…
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers032.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers035.jpg

Finally, full of food and excitement, we headed for the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

Chapter 4: Show

So Friend Dave and I went off to the Red Hot Chili Peppers show. We found that the streets in Quebec are confusing and should die. For instance, this street appears to have two names.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers033.jpg
Oh the french! You're so crazy!

Finally, we found our bus, missed our stop, had to walk back in the rain, and finally lined up for the show. We were like the 10th people in line, and we waited for quite some time before the doors opened.

There was a sign that said no cameras were allowed in, so I slipped the ol’ digi-camera down my pants, and no one was the wiser (is that a zoom lens in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?) We got in, and bough our tour shirts right away, and then sat down to watch the show.

We had pretty crummy seats, but at least we were there.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers037.jpg

Mars Volta opened; sadly, they weren’t as good as I was hoping. I think they were levelled wrong, or something. Either way, I wasn’t able to get a good pic of them.

I was however able to get many many awesome pics of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

OMG!! Lighters are pretty! Gleeeeee!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers053.jpg
I didn't have a lighter, so I used this mini flashlight!

Flea had a pink and purple leotard he wore, and he often went on numerous improved bits in-between songs. Chad had a glow in the dark drum, which lit up whenever he hit it. And the lights were sooo hypnotic…very much so…

We had to clap for a good 10 minutes for they came out and did an encore, which was Under the Bridge, and Give it Away, as well as an opening 5 minute drum solo (complete with sticks being tossed in the air and being caught) and an ending improved bit that lasted 10 minutes….of amazing awesome…Awesomeness!! I was grooving like nobody’s business.

We left the concert and returned to the bus station, tired as hell, and ready to sleep on the bus all the way home (remember, we didn’t get much sleep.) Everyone thought this trip was awesome, even Sonic the Hedgehog, who we met at the bus station.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/Moo2u/RedHotChiliPeppers055.jpg
See? Sonic gives it thumbs up! He thinks its way pass cool!

All in all, twas an Amazing Awesome Adventure; the only concert I’ve been to that topped this was seeing the Rolling Stones (I was so close to the stage I could count the wrinkles in Keith Richard’s face!) but that’s another story…for another day…

THE END!
