A closed beta isn't designed for stress testing so much as it is for other sorts of bugs. Not that I'd actually call this a closed beta, really, this is more like... a preview or... like a pre-release screening for a film that studios invite movie critics to.

I think Sonic Team already got a pretty good idea of how much load the servers could handle with the Japanese release.

So uh... how about that voices video, eh? I'm sure you'll think I'm a jerk after reading this, but you were rude to the staff on this site (Ether mentioned it already, I saw the topic line too the day you created this thread), took the opportunity to brag about how you got into the US closed beta and how great you are to the PS community, and now you leave the community hanging. Making a voices video would require about 15 minutes of your time, tops, because you wouldn't have to be present during encoding/uploading. I work 9 to 12 hour days regularly and still managed to record videos and post images of the Japanese closed beta and retail release just fine, just like the other importers who all have contributed to the community and also have jobs.

If fame is what you wanted, you've got it and the criticism that comes with it. It's really annoying to see someone piss on other people's work (http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=118432&forum=20&start=0&15#12), brag frequently, but then not deliver when it counts.

I honestly have to wonder about the source of this material. Being in a closed beta, especially one like this, usually requires one to sign an agreement than you will basically keep quiet about it.
Yes, we all know that stuff gets leaked from betas, and that was certainly the case with the Japanese one, but to me, this seems extremely unprofessional. To immediately start loudly and publically bragging about being in a closed beta is really bad form and, for all the blustering over it, we have seen little results. But, I honestly don't care about seeing pics and videos because, knowing game developers myself, I understand why it's considered a bit more polite to keep quiet during a beta instead of running around showing off.
Assuming Jon_F is actually in the beta, which I have doubts about, the content you are supply pales in comparison to other players. Sure, they're stuff isn't the English version, but considering how EASY it is to produce good quality samples of what's to come, so far all we've seen is stuff that could have easily been obtained from other sources outside of the beta (there's been videos of the English cutscenes floating around the internet for MONTHS...not these ones, no, but my point is made). And, no, no one is asking that you slave over the game for hours to produce hi-def, DIVX videos..that's just showing off...some simple YouTube clips would suffice most people. So..if that's the excuse as to the lack of proof you're actually in the beta, then it isn't very strong.
Also, in looking at your track record of criticizing other people's efforts this again leads to the suspicion that this is all likely a ruse. If there really is a closed beta going on, it looks like all the other players have chosen the classier way to play, which is to keep quiet about it and do their jobs.

wow, I'm actually really impressed with these voices. They actually did a great job with paralleling with the jp voices with some of them. Cool that they gave us the full voice set as opposed to the initial "3 voice samples" from the beta's character create. And I'm GLAD they don't talk... Being able to understand what the jp voices were saying... It got a little redundant hearing them say it over and over again... Grunts don't get old NEAR as fast.

I actually noticed that some races seem to have exclusive voices in the Japanese version. Nice work, in any case.

Of course, you have to remember that all these grunts and moans and whatnot are presented to us completely out of context. If those sounds come out when a monster whacks your character over the head with a clawed hand, I'm sure it won't seem so lusty.

Im sure the 360 version will have japanese and english voices, It wouldn't make sense for japanese player characters to have different voice selections than english players even though we are on the same servers.

As far as the voices go, I don't think we should get too excited as far as how much they rock or suck. Remember, it's onlt the beta, so the real version will probably (HOPEfully) have more than that.

At the same time, this "closed beta" strikes me as the "quite nearly complete" version that most game companies send to the gaming media, like Jon said. This is the kind of thing they send to magazines like EGM so they can have the review done in time for the game's release. If this isn't the full version, it's at least 95% of the real deal-- so I doubt they're going to add to or change much of the voice work.

EDIT: I stand thoroughly corrected. click here (http://www.geocities.com/auroralhare/Voice1and2.mp3) to hear voices 1 and 2 overlapped with one another. Besides some stereo-echo because Jon didn't execute the voice demos in exactly the same rhythm, you can tell that the voices are exactly the same. So... there may well be more voices on the way.

Sorry, I find I can't take beings who both act and type like retards seriously. It takes a special kind of person to misspell "due".

Note the fact that my posts of doubt came before the videos appeared. Note also the fact that I commented on the voices in the chapter intro video. From this, one can draw the conclusion that I no longer doubt the authenticity of this beta.

As for why I doubted in the first place: One screenshot with a single word of English in the corner is easy enough to mock up. Having reasonable doubt about a concept is much better than immediately believing in it despite a lack of evidence, then having your hopes crushed when it turns out to be fake.

Additionally, I don't think you have the right to call me "immature" when you're flaming me using horrible spelling and grammar for actions I didn't even do.
