Well apparently the team is having a hard time with the english language >_>. I was hoping they would actually spend a little bit more time/money on the translation of the text.

It sort of worries me, but I love poorly translated games than anything http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif mostly why I am trying to get around to playing the original PS games.

So I was wondering if this worries anyone at all? Or can our official beta tester give some info on this if he hasn't already.

This is coming from a company that for, what, 4 years had "EVERY HUNTERS OF PSO" in the ending sequence? In essence, what do you expect. At least the English translations are mostly decent. Try the German, French, or Spanish versions for true raping of languages.

Frankly it wouldn't be a Sega game without strange and seemingly random text from mangled translations.

EDIT: At least Sega never misspelled their name on the title screen unlike some other companies.

I was just pointing out that with the number of stuff in this game, you're gunna run across a little mistake here in there. Its normal in a lot of games (especially RPGs) for there to be some grammatical errors or typos. That doesn't mean that its BAD TRANSLATION. Doesn't matter if these people are getting paid or not.

Looking at the page that link goes to, as well as the other page where it is detailed exactly how and why there are seperate continuities for the English and Japanese Phantasy Stars, all I have to say is... overanalyze much?

Most of what is pointed out as "deliberate" changes can be attributed to simple errors and attempts by the localizers to appeal more to western culture, especially with the names of characters and items. As far as the dates the games take place... I'd have to say the Japanese dates are correct, and the ones that are "deduced" for the English side are attributable merely to errors both in translation and from localizers who simply didn't know enough about the story.

Off-topic, yes, but then I get enough kicks from linguistical errors from www.engrish.com, and certain members really just need to take their "fun" (read: stupidity) to FKL.

On-topic... as long as it's only one or two instances, it's no big deal with the errors. But if more than a few start popping up, I'd definitely have to say Sega needs to find a new localizing team.

I personally see nothing wrong with mistranslations. I mean, I've seen far (and I do mean far) worse mistranslations ("Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion" for PSP anyone?). If I can understand what was meant to be said, I'm not concerned in the slightest what the text is.
