j/k

you know the beat system? ya I thought that was a great alternative to tracking time no matter where in the world you're playing and stuff.

does PSU use a similiar time system or actual world time or something?

well either way ppl will find ways to schedule meetings and stuff if they wanna meet later on at a specific time.

Did anyone actually USE that time system besides Heaven Punisher owners?

I did!

it's a lot easier than figuring out people's timezone and stuff like that. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

It was a pain in the ass because each set of 100 beats were in some stupid time increment. It was alot easier to just ask "what time is it there? Ok, I'll meet you at ____ your time."

I'm glad to be rid of it, but yeah, I made use of it for my Heaven Punisher

The Beat system was PSO's version of an in-game clock. But beats weren't set to 60 minutes (a little over, if I recall correctly), so it was a real hassle to figure out what time a certain beat would be.

well not everyone is punctual at meeting at a certain time anyway. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I played PSO, but i guess i was too young to know about the beat system. Or maybe i just forgot but this all sounds new to me.

I like the concept of a universal clock, but setting the increments to some obscure number is just stupid. Would've been perfectly fine had they used 60 minutes = 100 beats, or something akin to that.

I didn't really care for it as I played offline. I just laughed a lot because I always was playing at about 0 beats http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Swatch's BEAT system was probably the most contrived fake unit of measure ever conceived by man. Using BEATs for anything but HEaven Punisher timing in PSO would be like using Furlongs in anything but Horse Racing...

Ye, beat really didn't serve a giant purpose other than HP. I remember planning meetings with clans based on the BEAT time.

I really didn't use it. I just go out & find things on a daily basic. It was kinda cool to find a red handgun only to find out that rangers was the only ones who could use them. ><
