Item drops realated to elements?

As the title says, are they related to elements? Kubara wood easier to find with earth elemental weapon, ok, but could rares also have something with an element? Imagine this: Each element affects a certain drop and you have one kind of drop per element. So basically you can choose what you'll get. I'm just completely confused with this.

You're saying that the element of the weapon you are using does/could affect what synth mats drop from enemies? Never heard of it, and I highly doubt it.
