Back in PSO days, i know alot of people that got really friendly with each other and they actually met up and stuff. I'm 22 now and too old for those kinda things.

To share a little story, I met a girl on PSO and she was incredible. Great looking, great personality, we were together for 4 years, then it ended sadly. It's ok to like someone IF you've actually come in contact with them or at the very least talk to them on the phone. Other than that, kids who go looking for girlfriends in game and say "omg i lub her" needs to get out more =/. No offense to anyone.

Not quite true. Some people roleplay as female characters as well, and there's nothing wrong with that.

So to narrow the spectrum a bit, it's the scammers and mean-spirited people that ruin the rep. Roleplayers do nothing (or very little) to hurt it--they're just playing a part in a social game.

Generally I get to know someone before I begin actually RPing with them--a lot of people are general gamers and don't RP anyway, so trying to RP around them ends up breaking whatever continuity or mood you're trying to achieve. I'm a guy, and I play male characters--I don't understand the female persona enough to feel comfortable seriously RPing as a female.

Unless I'm already in an RP session, though, I act as as myself, a guy sitting in front of a TV screen playing an online RPG.

And I voted "No." The way my mind works would be a disservice to any girl that tried to get into a serious relationship with me--trust me on that one--my mind goes one-track often, and when it does I'm fairly oblivious. Anyone or anything demanding my attention in one of those states gets pushed back time-wise until I regain normal thought.
