Question about online mode.

I have the PS2 import version of PSU and a Japanese PS2. Is there a FAQ somewhere that explains the details of playing online. After I clear the first few online areas, I arrive at a staging area where other people seem to be chatting. How do I proceed to the next online area from here?

Do I need to complete more offline levels to proceed to new levels online?

What you complete offline has no effect on what's available online. Just travel to the different planets through the Colony's PPT Spaceport and check out the availble missions at the different Flyer Bases and mission counters.
