Level cap +10. People are gunna cap out again in like 2 days. At least expert classes are unlocked.

I couldn't nail down where it said axes (babelfish, like any translator, is not 100%). But I did see where they're talking about 2 new SUV weps for Casts, new Photon Arts, and a slew of other neat things.

I figured that they would at least have expert classes before US/EN release. Unlinke JP markets, most US/EN gamers generally dont take well to games feeling incomplete. This is going to be real exciting I'm sure. ^_^

Aside from just axes, it says that eight weapon types will be unlocked in network mode. I found this picture (http://psu.rdy.jp/src/up5908.jpg) showing what looks to be a list of them from the official site which apparently was taken down for some reason. It shows the double saber, axe, twin claw, claw, grenade, laser cannon, crossbow and card.

Other things worth mentioning are new clothing and cast parts as well as a ton of new room goods and reform tickets.

AngelLight
Oct 6, 2006, 07:34 AM
Ah and there's the confirmation to the weapons from yesterday's confirmation ^_^

Great catch there Espio.

One thing....I'm assuming you're able to read JP, so on this issue of card weapons: are the only card weapons ones that look like fans? Or perhaps they will have the more traditional card looking weapons like Talis or Mahu?

Ryudo
Oct 6, 2006, 07:43 AM
I believe it also says the first online story mission with Laia Martinez is going to be added? Or am I reading that wrong? ;o

It doesn't say, unfortunately. But, considering that we've already seen sabers that resemble halogen lightbulb tubes (Keikoutou) and other random non-saber looking items, I think it's safe to assume that we'll get some rare cards that dont' look like fans. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a throwback to Mahu or something similar.

Yes yes YES! This is the update a lot of us have been waiting for! Other details:

New my room items, reform tickets, PM Device zero (lets you reset pm), New clothes! 5-7 star equipment will be available, new arts/techs, story mission, and 2 new SUVs. The PSU update gear is finally rolling!!!!

Well that's fine, I'm sure we'll find out soon. To be honest, I'm kind of glad they did add card weapons. They're the shotguns of forces and anything that can tag more then one target added to the already impressive (though nerfed from PSO) AoE abilities of forces are for sure a good thing (assuming they function the same which we'll have to wait and see).

Oct 6, 2006, 07:50 AM
ok this finally looks like a good update, and now biweekly updates are starting supposedly, this is workabale stuff, hopefully NA will be on a similar schedule, -the one month of nothing (say 2 weeks of nothing is cool. basically hopefully we will only be 4-6 weeks behind jp instaed of 8-10

AngelLight
Oct 6, 2006, 07:53 AM
I'll go out on a limb here and say that US release will have expert classes at the very least on retail. Some of it (especially the story missions) might be behind the JP schedule, but game play issues wont I'm fairly sure. It's in SEGA's best interest to have that at least.

AnamanaAU
Oct 6, 2006, 07:59 AM
Perhaps US will get more stuff from the start. Seeing as they've done testing?

physic
Oct 6, 2006, 08:10 AM
well the they said the reason we wont be connected is supposedly because we will be on a different unlocking schedule. So i doubt we will get anything they didnt get at start, but if the updates were really held up for purposes of second beta testing then we shouldnt have to wait that month, i suppose we will see, but its good to see that online mode will have some story, and that stuff not available offline will be unlocked.

That will make two updates in two weeks following the official service restart. That makes me very happy. Hopefully this is maintained somewhat, even if it's only single quests on some weeks.

but wait this update is for the Japan servers, who's to say the US servers wont start from scratch like Japan did?

Parn
Oct 6, 2006, 09:10 AM
I'm sure we will start from scratch since it'd be sort of unfair to the Japanese players, but if the US servers follow the same update schedule, it won't matter at all. A consistent update schedule will keep interest for a long time.

Actually from what I recall from the interview they said they were going to try to update in the same timeframe as the JP server... which means means since they got this stuff this far after release that we might get in that long as well. However it's hard to say, we may not have the month beta period JP had either

Most likely Sega, under some kind of client software like PlayOnline for FFXI. If Microsoft ran and updated the servers and handled the updates, well, PSU would lag like Saint's Row multiplayer...

Haha a slicer is just a glorified boomerang, an axe just looks like a glorified polearm, but both are unique in their own right. I'm sure they have unique attack animations. I mean you stab with a spear, swing with an axe, and if you have a halberd, well you do both, but I don't think they have a halberd. Eh, I think it's more of a style thing instead of a functionality thing. If you are complaining about lack of uniqueness, then you could have said "why didn't they make blowdarts, or a chaingun, or throwing daggers, or maces, or morningstars, etc. etc.

I think as long as the US servers don't go into Beta Mode, we'd probably get our first update around the 3rd week and it would go from there? That's just speculation, but in my mind it sounds decent.

And I really don't think it should take people 2 days to get from 50 to 60 unless they're doing some serious power playing. It'd be nice if I could ask a level 50 what their EXP needed was from 49-50 and how long it took to get there... Or if it pulls and FFXI and suddenly doubles the amount of EXP you need to get the next level and resumes at a normal pace from there.

ForteFighter
Hunter specialized class. Their selection of melee weapons is lessened, but have bonuses to both Attack and Defense.

Hmmm.. in another thread Fortefighters had:

Fortefighter
S-Rank Swords, Knuckles, Spear, Double Saber, Axe, Twin Sabers, Twin Daggers, Twin Claws, Saber, Dagger, Claw
A-Rank Handgun
Though this was from a magizine.

A big difference, if the part about 'Their selection of melee weapons is lessened' is true. Unless they are referring to something else.

Given that we've seen screenshots showing what weapons they're able to use, I think the best localized version of the statement would be, "Though their range of weapons is narrowed almost exclusively to melee weapons, they gain a significant boost to attack and defense". Ditto for Fortegunners, just substitute "ranged weapons".

For the sake of verification, your translation is accurate. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

EDIT: Almost forgot. Here are translations of the blurbs under the new weapons listed in that pic I posted this morning.

Axe: A double-handed melee weapon. Due to how slowly this weapon swings, it's extremely difficult to handle, however it can inflict massive damage with a single blow. ("Massive damage;" yeah, I said it. I couldn't resist. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

Grenade: A double-handed ranged weapon. It has high attack power, however due to the parabolic flight path of the grenades it launches, it will take some practice to become skilled with this weapon.

Card: A single-handed ranged weapon. A photon blade in the form of a card, this weapon is capable of firing off multiple shots at once.

Technically, they're only having to wait a couple weeks, since official service started on October 1st. The previous month was delegated to beta status (and no one had to pay) because they had to quash the problems they encountered at launch.
