i watched an anime called ghost in the shell and ive been thinkin lot about pms and casts lately and i gotta wonder wahts the difference between the too??? didn't the casts newmens and beasts fight against humans to end slavery and then you have pms??? so how can there be pms??? neone whose japanese please answer this for me does the story answer this??? thanx

I am by no means a source of official information, but I believe it's programming. Casts would've been programmed with free will, whereas PMs would be just more or less artificial inteligence with no free will at all.
That's just my guess.

Seriously, wait and play the goddamned game for yourself before asking such ludicrous questions about various things that might possibly be somehow related to something that could be construed as a plot hole. Hell, be thankfull PSU has a plot.

I agree with Cigaro.
PMs are probably more of a serving-type, so they were probably made with no free will in order to keep them 'controlled'. Their actions and thoughts and all based on pre-programming.
Then, on the other hand, casts have free will. They can act and think independently. Everything they do is for themselves, and there is nothing telling them specifically what to do/say/think.
