I have no clue what the background story is. Well I do a bit, therefore I like PSO's one more. With the sinister miliraty plots and such.

Man, I hate when porn video games try to have a story. Really though, the story seems like it might be interesting.

I don't know enough about the backstory to really make a comment on it's quality. I know the quick synopsis most everyone else does, of course, but I won't know the whole story until getting the game myself and really digging in.

So far I don't like it nearly as much as I liked the PS backstory - but a lot more than I liked the PSO backstory.

I don't think it could be as good as the old Phantasy Star games, but it seems like you're more invovled with the plot than PSO, although the hidden storylines in the game and subplots were really cool.

History of the human race in a nutshell:

Guy 1: I don't like you.
Guy 2: No u.
Guy 1: NO U!
*armies march*
Rinse and repeat.

It's pretty easy to present anything in an uninteresting way if that's your aim.

I myself liked the PSO backstory. I didn't like the presentation of the story, at least up until they finally figured out how to do some actual storytelling in Episodes 3 and 4. But the story itself was good, IMO.

Couldn't care less.. If I want a good storyline I'll play Final Fantasy. I'm buying this for the online play.

I know I'll enjoy it. Sad that some neglect that sega made a "story" for us.

ya I love the backstory, it's FAR SUPERIOR to PSO's story scenario, plus closer to the classic Phantasy Stars. and not just 3 planets in a solar system and stuff like that, PSU's atmosphere and style is truly beautiful and cool. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Ugh... for god's sake don't turn to Final Fantasy for a good storyline. They can't even make a half-way decent movie. Crack a book once in a while. The Elder Scrolls has a far, far, better stories than anything Square has produced - and even they are ranked well below even most of the dime-a-dozen AD&D module novels.

If you want good storylines, don't play videogames, read a book once in a while.

While not even being close to accurate, that pretty much resembles PSO's storyline structure.
