I was recently visiting the Xbox Live Beta testers board and stumbled upon a thread of ppl who received their XB Live updated retail discs.

Xeno:
Just got the official retail version of the starter kit today...The leaflet accompanying the disc says "Here's what you need to make the shift from Beta Tester to playing against the world with the updated online versions of MotoGP and Whacked!"

MotoGP and Whacked?! That is Whack.... Looks like i'll be picking up MechAssault come launch day.

This news is sooo old i could have told you this two weeks ago. I also have recieved the official starter disk but i knew that only Japan gets PSO as a pack-in.

I haven't recieved my update yet.

Oh well, it'll get here sooner or later, and Ill try to find a copy of MechAssault on launch day, but I don't think any stores around here will have it that soon after release.

...Dang. Oh, well. I'm losing faith in Mircosoft, and it looks like I'm going to have to decide which horribly handled version of PSOep1+2 I want...the one ruined by SoA and NoA, or the non-existent one that the XBOXers won't see for quite a while. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

If PSO Xbox doesn't come out on November 15th I will give up all hope on it. To all those considering folding and getting the Gamecube version: It's not really worth it and you will grow weary of it very quickly; it reminds me of the DC version late in it's life.... It's hard to get a good game going and tedious to hack stuff to death without being able to communicate with anyone. Spend your cash on MechAssault (Got a 9.0 on Gamespot! 9.2 on IGN!).

If you don't like the GC version, what makes you think the X-Box version will be any better?

You say yourself, "It reminds me of the DC version late in its life." Maybe you're just bored of PSO in general?

What I meant by that statement was that no one playing Phantasy Star ONLINE on Gamecube. There are what? A couple thousand during it's peak times. And the majority of people are mute since they won't import an $80 keyboard. I love PSO... But I love the ONLINE aspect and PSO GC just doesn't have that.

so in the end there is the choice for americans to either wait for their x-box version, or pick up that - as you say - crappy cube-version and play alone with other muted ppl and of course without the japanese.

hm... then i somehow prefer being in europe and having no pso at all until at least june next year.

as things are now, only those with keyboard and some onlinefriends can have fun... its sad and how things are now, they (sega, nintendo, microsoft etc.) are definitely killing the game for some months, if not for ever.

ah and dont think microsoft will have so much convidence in pso to release it with commercials and tam-tam.

Umm...I haven't noticed a lot of mute people whenever I play..lots of people talk, it doesn't take THAT much work to chat on the Soft Keyboard...geez, everyone acts like it's the end of PSO if you can't use a physical keyboard..

Well, I NEVER owned a Keyboard for the DC versions and I chatted a LOT. It doesn't take long to be very efficient in typing with it.

big shock, but of course they were gonna put in shitty games bundled in because, well, they're free.......

PSO isn't even listed anywhere on the expectant games list on the official xbox site...

this game will be released....eventually....

but with little fanfare, and prolly a small bone tossed to us like a new character or 2 to make up for the time we'll have to wait even still

You guys sound like PSO is THE only game to play. It's not.

You've got so much stuff to keep you busy on your XboX, you should be GLAD that PSO isn't coming out for awhile.

It'll come out. It'll be worth the wait.

As far as the Cube version. It's a shitty port, it really IS. I'm playing it and it ain't great. If the extra time taken improves the XboX version then be patient.

Why does everyone say how shitty the Cube version is? I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit and the Xbox will not have much more improvement, so if your saying the GC version is shit don't even bother buying the Xbox one.

GC and xbox pso will the same exact thing. I dont know why people think the xbox version is going to be awsome. IT WILL BE THE SAME THING. rofl. Why would st add 1 new char and make it unbalaced.. Its amazing you people belive anything.

A wise crackhead once told me that Microsoft gets Rareware exclusively after StarFox and in return, Nintendo gets Sega exclusively after Panzer Dragoon... and that the XBOX PSO was gonna' get scraped. All my dumbass Ouji board says is "REDRUM"... That's it's answer for everything. Sucks.

Time will tell. I like the Gamecube port. I think it's awesome... but the XBOX version WOULD be cool. I can admit that. (Mac-addicted, Microsoft bashing, Gamecube fanboy)

One of Microsoft's hangups with xBox licensees is that if they make a multi-console game, the xBox version is supposed to contain content original and specific to the xBox version. At least that was the original idea. How true the game makers are being to this, I don't know.

Now if they scrap the online fee as every freakin' rumor seems to lead us to believe, that alone is reason to get it. Oh and since you seem to think they are identical, I guess it will have the same voice comm support the GameCube version in your world has.

Realtime voice alone is enough to make a completely different game.

Sonic Team's Yuji Naka is quoted from Gamespot.com saying:
"Microsoft is in charge of selling it so we're not sure when it's going to ship. Everything is complete now; they have the game. I was hoping they would sell it immediately, but I have a feeling they may be waiting to see what the market situation is to decide the right time to release. Maybe if the fans asked for them to release it right away, they might release it sooner?"

That's also old news and has been said/posted on PSOW some time ago.
