The stupid "LOL @ PSU360" picture was a waste of time and effort as well. So what if the Open Beta was delayed? It doesn't have any effect on the retail release. In one sense I am not really upset about the delay of the Beta, think about it, you only get a little taste of the game (good I know, yes fun) but you will only start to get going and that could be the end of the Beta test period and then you would have to wait a week or so to get back. There's also a VERY big difference with the FFXI 360 Beta.. you were playing on already established servers which were around for a very long time and housed users from the PS2/PC community.

The FFXI 360 beta didn't have any balancing issues, gameplay adjustments, or any of that sort of thing to look after (as most betas usually do)

The FFXI 360 beta was more so, most likely, to make sure the game ran on the 360 hardware without any problems under normal gameplay conditions.

That is a good question, WHY? It was ready from sega I am assuming, but if you go onto the xbox forums, people are saying that Microsoft is delaying it. To build up suspense I guess, if I can recall they did the same thing with Dead rising Demo.

I think it was Dead Rising maybe... They said Wednesday was the day and then got delayed and randomly appeared on the friday of that week?

I grew up in arcades and I remember when dig Dug was the shit, but MS has got to be kidding with this updating every Wednesday with a lousy 20 year old arcade game. Doom not withstanding, these updates are garbage. But, i don't want this to get too far off topic. I'm guessing it's a mixture of MS issues that are delaying the beta.
In fact, it would not surprise me if MS was upset that the beta release would have taken attention away from their AMAZING WEDNESDAY release of Dig Dug. It sounds silly, but think about it...MS made a big thing out of how they were going to release an Arcade game every wednesday. even if that were true they would have just arranged for the demo to come out after the live arcade update from the beginning. If Microsofts ego were hurt by this somehow they would have thought about it before they announced thats when it was coming out.

yeah, that happened to dead rising and prey too I think, its almost to the point where any release date they give is a straight up lie. I really hope that delays are due to technical reasons and not (for the love of God) pr reasons, I dont think Microsoft would really do this, however alot of people dont seem to agree with me. The conspiracy theroies about microsoft sitting on finished content in order to hype the release of something else are always floating around, you have to take them with a grain of salt though.

anyone ever wonder why its called a conspiracy theory and not a conspiracy? even if there was a huge conspiracy on the part of microsoft to withhold a demo from the marketplace so they get people to download Dig Dug (as if they have nothing better to do) there is one thing you have to ask yourself. Why? why not just port both right next to eachother on marketplace so when you see that fancy new Demo for PSU you also see the Dig Dug download and you get both or atleast more people see that Dig Dug is downloadable than would have otherwise.

Noooo, the word I wanted to use was "dumbidity" because it encapsulates both dumb and stupidity. The fact the word "dumbidity" doesn't exist adds another layer to not only the humor, but the idiocy of the situation as a whole. It wasn't a crash, there were just so many poeple trying to log on the servers slowed to a standstill. Chances of this happeneing are slim because the Xbox 360's population will only be a fraction of the number of people Japan had with PS2 and PC players (on linked servers no less).

EDIT: The servers weren't down for a month either, they were exceptionally slow for approximately a week though, while Sega set up more servers to alleviate the stress.

Again, chances of this occuring again are slim.

The certification only applies to things being put up for download on the Marketplace. The game itself is ready to go. Microsoft just tends to be unspecific as to the requirements for certifying content.

There are different factors that go into the cert process. Main difference between this and the final game is that the beta is going to be ran from the harddrive while the game from the disk. Also, the beta would most likely not contain everything that the final game has so that itself could contain a problem.

Also certifying a game for the market place can sometimes go very slow or move quickly, if they find just one problem they will want to investigate it rather than let us suffer the hard way.

I must ask, was it ever comfirmed that there was a certifying problem? Could it be that it was a more legal problem?

Yes it is sad, but I am sure they have a good reason for doing so. An unstable Demo, or server could hurt the game before it's release. Personally I want as many people as posible to buy this game for the 360 because it will just make the online community in PSU that much better.

It's just assumed there's a hold up in the certification process, because there's really nothing to legally dispute over unless someone is being totally anal about the demo being released on the same day as Dig Dug.

I'm banking on Thursday or Friday for the demo as the day to go up.

Releasing a Beta, no matter how close to release of the official game, is a good idea because there's always the prospect of finding something wrong and being able to fix it before launch, making your company look that much better, and having fewer people know about the bug.

It's also an excellent marketing tool.

The difference is that Bungie didn't say a few days before Halo 2 release "get the game in 24 hours" and then 2 days later say "whoops! wait longer!". You would have thought this Beta download would have been finalised by now with no crossed wires bewteen Sega and Microsoft.

You are right in saying people are overreacting a bit, and in future it is best not to take marketplace release dates too seriously since they almost never tend to pan out.

When it comes, it comes. Seriously, I"m suprised to see that no one has anything better to do but complain about a change of events. Yes, Sega should not have posted a date if they knew it was not going to be set in stone. However, its just a game; yes I said it, it is just a game.

If PSU is delayed or the beta never does end up being released, so what? If that happens, chances are everyone here will just find another game or pastime and forget all about PSU.

The game will be out the 24th. I have faith that ST will fix the game moving at a crawl and that morphing character thing and losing character data (or starting over whatever it was). Just have some patience, if you need an MMO fix, play one of the many free ones on the internet, or pick up a free-trial for WoW. Or, *gasp* do something else besides using your computer or playing video games.

wow dude, thems some pretty harsh words there. i dont think you should worry, they maybe tweaking some stuff, think about how much it must of glitched for the JP version, you should be happy it wont be like that when it comes out, im jealous of the closed beta players and im disapointed the open beta was delayed, but at least its coming out, i mean, the release date hasnt changed, be thankful for that. maybe they want to make the beta more avaliable so they may release it on the weekend, you have to think these things through, do you really think that they would just be asses. i mean most companys are only for profit, and delaying the game wont help them, obviously you can see, they probably just want to make it so more peeps can play on the weekend. lol take it easy man. peace out guys

Er, if it means that much to you you probably need to get out more. Games get delayed all the time, just be glad it hasn't been cancelled *coughstarcraftfghostimlookingatyoucough* or pushed back by YEARS a la Duke Nukem Forever.

We know it's coming eventually so just be patient.

the full game comes out the 24th, two weeks away.


they can relaese the beta next monday and there would still be enough time, unless the beta expiration date is still the 18th. but its delayed so ya they must also extend the beta's final day.

SEGA has announced on the official Site that thebeta has been delayed for the 360 from October 11th to "Very Soon" and stated that it will be up in the coming days. I got excited and tried to find it and then saw on the site that they delayed it.
