View Full Version : Bonus Soundrack worth listening to on the side?

How is the music in the game overall? Will the soundtrack be worth listening to away from the game?

For those who are playing the Japanese version, I'm not sure how many played through and saw cutscenes from the single player and heard the score from those scenes. I find what I hear in videos posted online is not enough to make a judgement call.

Opinions?

This game has one of the best online game soundtracks to date.

Listen to this song (http://synbios.net/misc/psu_j_bgm49.mp3) for one of the better songs in the game. Also give this one a whirl (http://synbios.net/misc/psu_j_bgm391.mp3). Last but not least, this song played during the E3 trailer back in 2004 (http://synbios.net/misc/psu_j_bgm386.mp3).

I'm a big fan of this game's soundtrack. So much of a fan of it that I'm generally always listening to it no matter where I go. At work, I have a large selection of songs playing as background music for my store; when I'm at the gym, I'll be lifting weights and running to this music on my iPod. Obsessed? Sure. I can't help it, though. I just love it so much. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

The first song Parn posted is a great example of one of the better songs from the game. It's a personal favorite of mine. Also, the theme of Raffon Meadow (the first song I really fell in love with) is still a top favorite; then there's the theme of Mellvore City. (It kind of reminds me of "Abysmal ball -banquet-" from Ep.I&II.)

Are there any tracks which are inspired by the first 4 games? I noticed that Episode 4 of PSO has one which uses a riff from one of the old games... that put a smile on my face.

Nope, PSU's soundtrack carries no remixes. However, there are songs from various Sega games in the data. "This is My Happiness" from Space Channel 5 Part 2 and "Day Dawns" from PSO are two examples... should be interesting to see what they have planned for the game.

As a collector of video game soundtracks, it makes a big difference. Besides, I like to support the composers who make the music I enjoy so much.

I found a place that had the themesongs for each city and some other things, and it sounded really good too me. The Orchestra that does the music for these games are wonderful.

I'll probably listening to other music in the cities if I get bored of their music too (I spend too much time chatting to people!) But the music is really nice, I'm definatly going to add this to my mp3 player.

Parn Thank you very very much for making those tracks available. They are quite good and are already downloaded onto my media player. Thanks again.

The bonus soundtrack has some good music on it. I also really love the main theme song as well. You can tell it's a Sonic Team song right from just after the beginning. The words basically saying stuff you'd completely expect from Sonic team, as well. But then again, I really eat up that kind of stuff.

I also really want to get the OST, mainly because the bonus CD is just a major teaser. There's so much music not on that CD. The OST should have more of all the songs in the game.

I didn't particularly like the "save this world" song. The words just didn't seem to fit right, probably written in japanese first then translated and sung in english.

Well there's "-Versus1- Tricktrack", "-Versus2- A Longing to Ancient Times" and "Nostalgia in Solitude -PART2-" from PSOBB, which are in fact old-school remixes. Not, er, new remixes by any measure, but there are remixes present.

I'd say the files might have been corrupted, are you pulling them off a Disc that is scratched or dirty? also, are they being ripped in entire folders. that might explain why the sound effects work while the music doesn't.

I'm ripping it from the data file folder of the game.

track 7 is the mission music then. But give it a closer listen, it's the extended version about 4 minutes longer.

The vocal theme song, hm. I don't really listen to the lyrics as much as I listen to the pitch they reach and how well it flows with music.

The words are corny, but the song itself is very catchy and well done.

I'm guessing most aren't used to Sonic Team music. As I mentioned before, it's completely Sonic Team, so it treads on very familiar ground with me. I like it because, while a bit corny, it's Sonic Team's general theme that they often put into their games. It could've been words to a Sonic game, almost. Needless to say, something about them is quite genuine, from an aspect of what Sonic Team is trying to say. And they almost always mean for it to be sung in English, that way. They don't really do music sung in japanese, much for their titles.

Then again, I'm the type that loves the Sonic R music; and if you listen to the words in that, or the words in some Sonic Adventure (or other sung Sonic Songs...Nights...and even Burning Rangers), you'll find a relation.

that's because SEGA had a "promo" I think it was that if you preordered the game you got a cd with all of the missing tracks on it.
