View Full Version : Offline EXP analysis -- no simple pattern present

Shouldn't have made a PSUPedia page, but PSOW tends to eat tabs and stuff.
I did a bit of number crunching (http://psupedia.org/index.php?title=EXP_Offline) with offline EXP values. I'm not really happy about the results. The values make some sense -- up to a certain point. I haven't found any logical patterns in the EXP growth over the levels, so it does not seem like it would be of any use in regard the online values.
Experiment failed. T_T;

You didn't find a common ratio? Neither geometric nor arithmetic? That's wierd...

From what I've seen it's a geometric ratio. It should be kinda looking like... c+(x^z)/y Hmmm, maybe I've done it wrong...

The exp needed to level up offline is lower then that needed to level up online. There's your formula.

You cannot compare two different sets of information until you have the info for the individual sets. Your conclusion is correct, but there is nothing to prove it. We know that it's harder online, but the offline EXP is confusing. also, what you said is a statement, not a formula.

Ok...

Offline exp needed to level up < Online exp needed to level up

Better?

How is the offline exp confusing?

There isn't one geometric ratio. Try it. D:

exp growth is exp growth,

ppl level faster offline, that's all there is to it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

I'm just wondering as to why this actually matters. Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting thing to do...

But it's not like you need to plan your level growth. Everyone has to do it the same way...and I bet the real high levels (once SEGA stops raising caps) will have some rediculous amount of EXP needed to max.

From a more academic standpoint, it's really wierd that there's no pattern. There has to be one...somewhere...

Stop your irrational hatred of numbers. Not everyone is playing the game purely via numbers, and not everyone wants to play entirely blindly either. EXP growth isn't terribly important, but the point here is that there isn't a recognizable pattern (as of yet). The topic is about the oddity of that and whether or not someone can find a pattern. It's not about leveling by numbers.

I've been looking at it for a bit now. I want to find a pattern as well, but the numbers just seem to get pretty arbitrary after a while. Maybe Sega had a pattern going but decided to get their numbers by playing darts.
