You lose S rank, which means less or no bonus meseta/mission points.

You do not lose item, weapon or 'synch' (there is none of that with your PM) when you die, just a lower rank for your mission. Lower rank means less reward.

which means your teamates will generally be alittle dissapointed with you, or the way the mission has gone, if they were aiming for a good rank/ good reward.

Of course sometimes you can just play for the sake of it.
