Gotta get your auto-revive on, most of time when I res I just wait for the auto-res and I don't really heal that much, just enough for them to survive one hit. I usually have two healers, Tidus, and Wakka as my people in the fights. The other tip is, you have to gain levels to beat this. It takes a lot of hp, and even when you have the max possible on the sphere grid, you still feel like it's not enough, so you start filling up the wholes on the sphere grid. That starts to feel like enough then finally. I have 132 hours in FFX and I can beat the arena consistently. Replaced probably 10-20 places on the existing grid with higher stats than they were previously, filled in all the others with the best possible for hp and other stats.
Another thing, you have to rely on your limits, never use summons IMO.

Craft some armour with Auto-Phoenix (I think that's what it's called, been a while), it helps a ton, though it is incredibly expensive.
If that's not an option, devote one party member to casting Auto-Life every turn. There's not much point in healing, as those bosses' attacks tend to do thousands (like 8000+ at least) damage anyway.
So, keep casting Auto-Life on people, immediately re-cast on someone who just died, use high end Overdrive if possible, and keep your fingers crossed.
Alternatively, the easy but expensive route:
Summon -> Yojimbo -> Pay tons of Gil -> Hope for Zanmato
Of course, if Yuna gets an Overdrive, Grand Summon either:
Yojimbo (I remember reading that a Grand Summoned Yojimbo will do Zanmato easier)
Anima (Oblivion, 'nuff said)
Magus Sisters (Passado/Delta Attack)
I beat those guys (the ones Ive unlocked of those anyway) quite easily with some strategic play. Earth Eater has a big weakness- I found that if you can knock it onto it's back, you get a few turns without getting hit- I usually use that time to cast Flare on it (my Yuna with Flare does about 20000+ damage, IIRC http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif ). When it gets to its feet again, I had to switch tactics (spamming Summons, getting one hit in on boss before they get OHKO'd, saving Anima for when Yuna has Grand Summon ready)
It's been a while since I played, but I think that's how I beat them. They can be quite difficult though.

Question: Is there any way to add "Break HP Limit" on an armor?
Oh and by the way, My Tidus' Balmung has the following on it:
Triple Overdrive
Break Damage Limit
Overdrive> Ap
Triple Ap

And out of all of these things, Neslug has been the biggest pain besides Thu'ban.

In my FFX days, I used to reference this a lot.
Click (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/game/197344.html)
Scroll down and click on Monster Arena FAQ for some good info.
Hastega (or auto-haste)
Auto-life (and/or auto-phoenix)
Quick hit
And if your wakka is strong enough, attack reels are key. 12 hits x 99 999 dmg + entrust from your other characters...yeah.

Do not waste your time putting Break HP Limit on an armor unless you specifically like big numbers. It is a pain in the ass and not really worth it.
Defence +20% and Auto-Phoenix can fill every role HP over 9999 would with added benefits (namely that upon death Auto-Phoenix restores 9999HP maximum, giving your Celestial Weapons their full strength upon auto-ressurection with no further need to heal).
The different attacks over 9999 fall in to either of these categories or combine a couple:
1) With max defence/magic defence certain attacks will still hit for 99,999 rendering Break HP Limit useless.
2) It will only hit one character, so Auto-Phoenix counters it (rendering your team invincible as long as you have Phoenix Downs).
3) Defence +20%/Cheer/Focus/Sentinel can bring the damage below 9999.
4) Due to the nature of FFX's battle engine, they can be predicted flawlessly and blocked through Aeons.
5) Due to the conditions placed upon certain attacks, they can be prevented by your actions (I.E. Not attacking at a certain point).
The only attack (inlcuding FFX International/PAL Final Aeons and Penance) that can require Auto-Life and 1ups all of the above five is Nemesis' Ultra Spark, unless you can take him out before his 8th turn.
No attack hits the entire party for greater than 9999 damage that can not be blocked, lowered to less than 9999, or predicted/avoided.

Edit: Look up Dark Yojimbo's Wakizashi move. According to a few sites Ive checked, 22,000+ damage to entire party.

If you are fighting the Dark Aeons, and therefore playing FFX International/PAL, an ideal armor is Auto-Protect, Auto-Haste, Ribbon, and Auto-Phoenix. You will be able to beat all of them with this 'easily', and push all their attacks below 9999 - minus the few that must be dodged/prevented due to them doing 99,999 or insta-kill. You will also be able to survive Dark Yojimbo's ambush no problem (you must block his Overdrive Zanmato with an Aeon, as it is impossible to survive otherwise). If you fear he will take you out in the ambush, sub in Auron with his Celestial Weapon with the First-Strike ability. This will override his ambush and allow you to activate the Sentinel 'stance', or use Cheer. This is on top of the 240+ defence figure you should have prior to taking on the Dark Aeons.
For Penance it is advised to use Auto-Haste, Auto-Potion, Auto-Protect, and Defence+20%.

get everyone an overdrive to ap weapon, put overdrive on comrade, get at leats one person with auto-pheonix. fight cactuar king, and just wait on all your turns until he runs away, you will recieve immense ap.
Or if you are against above method kill stuff in the omega ruins to level up alot.
those bosses are quite tough and take alot to kill, I would suggest yuna as one of your superpower chars so you can use her guardians (sorry been awhile forgot what they are called in X) for some heavy firepower, I use Bahamut and have him with shield/protect spells, lancet to drain mana, and most importantly, curaga. Haste/hastega is an incredible bonus as well.
edit: I ahvent been able to beat the underwater one and the greater spehere yet, I've beaten everythign else.
