View Full Version : Item Database

Now that we have an english (beta) version of PSU,
I think it would be a good idea to compile an item database, as a group effort, based on the items found on the 360 beta.
Before you tell me about PSUpedia, keep in mind that this site isn't psupedia, and is quite competent of creating our own database without a wiki.

Any Beta Tester with free time, please post information about any item, weapon, shield, clothing, etc.

Hey Kano, I'd have to agree with you there.. we are quite capable of creating our own item database here at PSOW, especially since we have the largest user base of any PSU or PSO site on the entire internet http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif We actually have some things in the works that I think you will enjoy once they are available, and I hope that we will get the kind of support that you are promoting once things go live.

What we probably will need the most are item finding reports and guides for the various challenges in PSU (from missions to item synthesis). We hope to make tools available to the users here so that these things can be easily submitted to us, but you're welcome to use the forums for the time being http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Thanks for your efforts!

I had planned, after PSU US was released, to keep track of every item drop form every monster. Basically a catalog of drops just in case people are looking for a specific item. We should actually start a sticky, possibly separating PS2/PC and X-Box, of drops ;P.

*edit* Would probably be good to include shop lists and other rare items like item synth results and the like.

Not a bad idea, I'll probably do it once the game comes out.

Same here, but if you wanted to start with the Beta, don't. You don't know what ST might change, and there is only 6 hours left in the day in GMT before the 17th, the day Xbox Live gets turned off ALL day for stuff to be changed around...

Well, even if xbox live gets turned off all day if its anything like FFXI servers since they are seperate then theres a chance people who are connected to PSU already wont be disconnected.

I like the way Zarbolord's "Name List" is set up:

http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=121016&forum=20

I think it might be a good idea as a general layout for an item list. One person creates the list, and everyone else posts for additions as the creator constantly updates the list. Kind of like this:

Monster Drops

Monster 1 - blah1, blah2, blah3
Monster 2 - blah1, blah3, blah6

Successful Synth Items

Original Item 1 - blah2, blah5, blah 6
Orifinal Item 2 - blah1, blah3

Unsuccessful Synth Items

Original Item 1 - blah7
Orifinal Item 2 - blah7

Shop Lists

I. Parum

A. Cast Part Shop
1. Part1
2. Part2

B. Clothing Shop
1. Shirt1
2. Shirt2

*etc*

What do you guys think?

Alright, let's see; here's my view on this.

Also, from experience (http://psobb.forumwise.com/) I have been starting to believe that having a sele (http://www.pso-world.com/user.php?op=userinfo&uname=Ryna)ct few (http://www.ragol.co.uk/forums/member.php?find=lastposter&f=27) number of people run a site (because the rest does not have the privilege to do anything but post, or not even that (http://tychopso.oddigytitanium.com/)), creating and maintaining comprehensive site based on information from forums can be quite tedious. In particular, this goes for sites basing their information on the content of forums that are either full of spam (http://pso-world.com/viewforum.php?forum=20), that contain next to no useful information from their non-staff userbase at all (http://ragol.co.uk/forums/), or, even worse, both (http://boards.sega.com/psu/index.php).

I apologize for what may have seemed like a rant.

Edit: From what I know, I hope and think that most sites and people would be willing to cooperate regarding information. Having taken that into consideration, I personally think factionalism is pretty silly.

lol, that's a ton of links you got there tycho.

Yea, I don't know how many people that catologued all the items and such for PSO on this site are still around. I also don't know exactly how many people they had doing it.

I guess I could try and brush up on my Japanese and help out, or just write stuff down when I'm playing it personally once PSU is out in NA next week. Depends on what the ops who run the site wanna do.

McFly, it might be useful to you to know that PSU on PC has a logging option that will keep a record of everything you and your party pick up or buy. It will list what was picked up or bought, and the time at which it happened. From there, if you just write down the times that you enter and leave a given area, you can keep track of where you got anything and everything.

Wow! That would definitely be incredibly helpful. I will have to research this immediately on US version before I start my missions. Thanks Mei!

Oh, I also wanted to reply to Tycho. I'm very familiar with your droplist site (it being my single reference guide to every item I ever searched for in BB, thank you btw for that ;P) and also of Ragol uk.

I do understand that it will undoubtedly turn into a very extreme undertaking requiring mucho amount of time. Then you would run into problems like "confirming said item drop" and "weeding through all the crap". That being said, I know that if noone starts something of this nature, it will never get started until extremely late after release and far after many start-up people will need it. I am definitely willing to help and do all I can to get a list like this off and going. I will also be glad to work with many others who have the same goal in mind.

I know for a fact that so many of us would have been seriously lost or just running around aimlessly if not for your Tycho's Documents. No worries also. I didn't take your comment as a rant. I took it more as a forewarning of the monster that could be unleashed by starting this ordeal. After start, I will do my best to make sure it get's to some sort of finished product ;P.

*edit* I like that there is an item log like that. Will definitely help. I do wish it had some sort of point of origin reference like "booma drops monomate" so I wouldn't have to write down what item came from what place. It's soemthing though ;P.

Where are these logs stored on your HD or is it only accessible ingame? I'd just like to know ahead of time when I'm farming for specfic things so I don't go through every single folder looking for it.
