I just purchased a usb 360 controller for my pc ahead of time for PSU... I expected it to work well with Oblivion, but it's terrible (even after getting update and making recommended changes to .ini file).

Has anyone played PSU with it yet? I wanna know if I wasted my money...

I will try it out right now if you want. Just have to steal it from my brother.

I have, it works ok. I had to install some driver to have it work perfectly. So now it works great. I also love the X360 controller the layout is great once you install the right drivers. ( I forgot which one sorry.)

I have it installed and use the default microsoft drivers from the site. works fine. although it lacks force feedback for SOME reason.

That has to do with games not supporting it if I have my facts straight. The default MS drivers are no good. Get the XBCD drivers at http://xbcd360guide.50webs.com/guide.html .

They work wonders for everything. . . and PSU is not excluded ;o

@ Rizeru: A special drive?

I believe you need the following driver:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0e989b12-576b-42f2-b7c1-2a17ce25188b&DisplayLang=en

However, I don't remember if that's what I installed to use mine. I've been using the Xbox360 controller for PSU PC and it works great. I do miss the Logitech Gaming Software from my Dual Action Rumblepad, though. It was good for mapping those extra controls when the games lack support for doing it via the options.

Thanks everyone! I'll try the drivers you linked, hopefully I won't have any issues because I'm running a trial of Vista as well. I wasn't able to install the full software from the CD which came with the controller because it demands XP, but I'm hoping those over drivers work http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I use the 360 controller, i fixed it so its exactly like how it was on xbox and PSOBB, i also use ControlMK to map any button on the keyboard to the desired button on my controller. i also use the XBCD drivers http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif i move menu's with the right thumbstick so i dont have to stop in battle for anything.

I've got the exact link to the drivers at home, so I'll check later on and post an update if it's different than the above driver.

Hmmm... when I load up the setup app after installing the driver everything seems chaotic... the axis on the analogues are all off and the regular buttons seem to react to every touch of the analogues as well... maybe it's cause I'm running Vista... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

EDIT: OMG nevermind! Maybe it would help if I switched from the xbox tab to the windows tab... LOL Everything seems normal. I'll try it with Oblivion now for fun, maybe load Prey later. Thanks guys! If only I could get my PSO working on my vista, but I have another pc for that... and PSU will rock for sure! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

A mix of Ranger then Hunter. If it were online it would be a Figunner, but that doesnt help me with my controller problems http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

So PSU has all the buttons pre-set for you if you plan to use an xbox 360 controller. Is it something pretty easy to do?

I'm using a PS2 controller to play PSU; seems to work great ^_^

So you just plug it in and then once your online with PSU you just find the option that already supports the 360 controller?

As I just went out and plopped down the $40 for this controller just for this game I do hope it works well.

Mine worked right away. I don't remember doing anything funny to get it working. I simply installed the 360 controller drivers, first; and then plugged the controller into the USB port. Launching PSU, I was working right away.

what do you have to do to install the 360 controller drivers?

if you're using Windows XP and fully updated (http://update.microsoft.com)(must be using IE for link), the controller installs itself when you plug it in.

DEAR GOD TOMMEE BOY MADE A POST.

THIS IS TRULY A MOMENTOUS OCCASION.

But other than that, yeah, a few people have used the 360 controller, and from what I hear it works well. While I was playing the beta, I absolutely loved how great the controls felt on the 360 controller. It was like the damn controller was made for the game, XD

Here is the link for the offical MS drivers: Click Here! (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/DownloadResult.aspx?prod=pk_xbox_cont&os=xp&lang=en&driverVersion=Download%20XBox%20360%20Controller%2 0for%20Windows)

Here is the link for the XBCD drivers: [http://xbcd360guide.50webs.com/download.html]No No, Click Me![/url]

There's really no reason to use the MS drivers though. The XBCD ones simply work better.

Edit: Fixed link for XBCD drivers.

Neither of them work for me...dunno why. Tried them before and I tried them right now. *shrugs*

To be more specific, it still comes up as a Unknown USB and will not find the controller drivers at all.

Actually...I think its because the wireless USB Cable....

My apologies... I linked to the wrong XBCD drivers. You need the ones here (http://xbcd360guide.50webs.com/download.html) for the 360 controller. If they still don't work, and you're using Windows XP SP2, you may need to install MS's JVM, which I could get a link to if these stupid forums would actually work... (different forums, not PSOW =P)

Also, make sure you use the directions on that site (click the "Guide" link). Does the controller at least show up in your Device Manager at all? If so, you should be able to install the drivers from the manager.
