View Full Version : Racial Differences? Cast FOrce Question

I'm sure this has been asked, but I couldn't find it anywhere, what are the differences between the races?

I ask this because in the 360 beta, I made a CAST FOrce and a Newman FOrce. When they were both level 6, I found that my Newman did the same amount of damage and healing as my CAST did, but I thought the CAST looked way cooler. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Normally I would play a Human, but I really don't like their new clothes... but anyway.....

I made it all the way to level 15 and I had no problems with PP because I carried three of the cheap 350 staves, so I had over 2,100 PP to cast spells, in addition to wielding twin daggers and also using a bow (which by the way was awesome when I got the 2,000 meseta one - I was doing between 60-100 damage each shot).

It appeared to me that I was doing the same amount of healing and damage with my spells that the other FOrces I saw were doing. I had no problems keeping up with healing or with groups, I never once had a complaint about me being a 'bad FOrce', usually people were thrilled to even have one around.

So am I missing something? Is it because it was beta that I seemed to be holding my own alright, or doing race really not make much of a difference anymore?

Theres going to be a little difference probable, but for the most part as long as you keep your equipment up to date you probable wouldn't be too far behind as a cast force.

Eh, there will be items (units, etc) to balance things out, but in your case a newman will always have an edge on techs. Especially if the newman maximizes by using the same units you used to boost your weaker stats.

But at least you'll be unique. And your " F the man" rebellious attitude will get you far.

Okay, well, if I didn't, how would I be 'behind' otherwise?

I was under the impression from the beta that PP is based purely off of the weapons, so I'm assuming that's not a problem.

I did acknowledge that there is a TP and MST stat in the game, although I have absolutely no idea what TP is for since PP is weapon-based. So it would be mostly spell power that I would be missing out on?

i plan on making a Newman hunter. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

The more i mess around with the character creation.. the more i hate beasts for some reason..

The more I think about the more I think that stats are worth crap to me.

MST is your magic resistance. TAP is your TECHNIC attack power.

I just thought CASTs were cool looking, LOL, I wasn't into the new frail cloth look of the Humans this time around, the armor look of the CAST was much closer to the original 'fantasy' style I was looking for - though it's weird since I never played an android in PSO. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif And I figured I can always just class change later so I wasn't really all that worried about it if I decided I didn't like it.

It didn't really bother me in the beta at least. I was casting fine and spent a lot more time probably than I should have doing melee with my twin daggers. For me it was like playing a HUmar all over again, but a lot more fun. And as a CAST I also get to use SUVs, don't I? That should be fun. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

But I'm also probably just crazy like that. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

As good/bad as your skill level. Honestly, PSU is so fast-paced compared to PSO that any difference in stats can be offset by a good player. Other then that, play what you want to, it's your character after all.

A newman force, of equal skill and equipment, will do noticably more damage with attack techs at higher levels.

If I remember correctly, Resta and buffs is based ONLY on level, so that will not make a diffrence

Come to think of it I guess I didn't really like the combat techs, I just liked being able to heal myself and others without wasting a million monomates. I had a lot of trouble targeting with the other spells.

But since I had twin daggers and the bow I didn't really mind. I am/was going through visual overload with the Cast Force so I was giddy the whole time. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

If you're having trouble using attack techs, then use this:

You say a Cast Force? What do you mean. I thought it was Humans, Casts, Beasts, and Newmans, either man or female.

Casts, while they lack the mind Newmans have, should be able to do about the same damage as long as you can equip the blasted thing. I'd imagine a Cast would have to be a higher level than a Newman to use spell X due to their lower TP... or whatever it is.

Unless I'm mistaken, Cast is the race and Force is the class he was referring to. Was that supposed to be a joke?

I never even considered a Cast Force because i thought the stat difference of not being a Newman would hold me back

But the entire beta period ive been switching back and forth between my Cast Hunter lvl 11 and my Newman Force lvl 13.

I liked the look of the Cast but didn’t like being a hunter or ranger

I liked the force spells but hated the way Newmans looked

If it’s true that the stats wouldn’t hold a Cast Force back iam so going to try it.

I noticed that CASTs seem to make really good hunters aswell as rangers.

A ranger CAST lower in level than me with starting equipment did twice as much damage as my Human Hunter's sabers did. Apart from the difficulty of changing classes at the start, CASTs seem to make far better Hunters. (Maybe humans eventually surpass CAST in APT but from what i saw in the first 10 levels CASTs were strong.)

IIRC, CASTs get better accuracy but less TP. So, technically, when compared to a balanced race like humans, they would be better than them as Hunters as well as Rangers, until you start combining Force aspects.

Is he talking about when he made is character, he made the race cast and the class force? or further down the line with what expert-class he wants to be?

In terms of stats...

http://pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=121886&forum=20&18

Scroll down a bit and check out the chart. You'll notice that a Newman Force has twice the TAP (Technic Attack Power) than a Cast Force would have at LV 60. That seems like a quite a big difference to me. Do what you want though, the game is about having fun. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT: I believe that TAP only affects damage dealing technics and not support, so if you wanted to be a 100% support Force then I don't see a problem with a Cast. However, I'm not 100% sure about the TAP stat.

You could always be a hybrid class like WarTecher or GunTecher, GT being better for magic.
