Your hunters level will stay the same if you switch. So lets say you switch at level 5, if you switch back it will still be level 5.

There's you level, which goes up no matter what job you're playing, and there's your job level, which increases via Mission Points.

If you're a level 15, with Hunter at level 2, and you switch to Force, you'd still be level 15, but you're force level would be 1. Say you get up to level 18, and you switch back to Hunter. You'd be a level 18, with Hunter at level 2.

Can you switch between Expert Classes at any time?

Your character will start at Level 1 when you create him. Depending on your race, you'll also have a class level of 1 for either Hunter, Ranger, or Force. We'll stick with Hunter for the example. So you're a level 1 Human with Hunter level 1.

As you go along, you'll gain EXP from killing monsters, and Mission Points from, well, completing missions. Mission Points are basically class experience, so as you accrue Mission Points your Hunter level will rise. You're now level 13 with a Hunter level of 3 and want to change to Force. When you do, your character will remain level 13, but your Force level will be 1 because you haven't used it at all.

Does that answer?

I believe you can switch any time, but it will cost you each time.

I answered the question I thought you were asking. You don't have to be a douche bag about it.

Ok, this topic sparked a question in me. The expert classes give you certain class benefits. I'm assuming that with every level of say fortefighter, it gives you a little more boost every time. Now, If I get to lvl 5 fortefighter then switch to fortegunner (I never would but for the sake of argument), all the stat boosts from the fortefighter will disappear, correct?

Stat boosts do not carry over between classes.

now as you level does your class affect how much you gain in one stat?
Ex:
Lv5 hunter gains a level, so does his Lv5 ranger friend (both are human), will the ranger gain more in ATA, and the hunter gain more in ATP?

Technically it does, but...

Say you level up to 10 as a hunter. You would have lots of HP, yes?

Well, if you switch to force, it would be exactly as if you had used only force up to level 10.

Your stats are determined by your race, and augmented in certain areas by your class.

For those of you that have played FFXI, the class change system should be similar to that.
