Xbox.com, and misrosoft stated Before the Xbox 360 Open BETA, that they were shutting down Xbox Live for a 24 HOUR Period. you cannot go to xbox.com at all until tomorrow.

PLEASE note that the beta does not end untill 12 A.M. on the 19th, we have the entire day of the 18 to play it. (although im working)

LOL alright alright, from what i have heard, and i believe this is true 100%, they have to ceate the Guardians liscence thing right, and wouldnt you want it to come out before the game so you can grab a guardians liscense to play the game when it comes out,right. anyway, they cant just put it on the market place, they need to link the guardians lisecense purchase, with sonic teams server. the day before the BETA came out, my live went down, i called in and they said they were doing matenance. so they are just readying the guardiance liscence, so when its back up we should be able to purchase one. if not now then soon, they are at least seting it up, because remember, when you get a guardians liscense. it links your gamertag to it, they are ganna need a little time to ready the program and such, but , tomorrow, we will be all preped for the beggining of PSU!!! and suposedly supposed to add a bunch of new features to the marketplace, and give us a few new demos to tide us over till the release of PSU.

Yeah thanks for the info Zabot. I didn't know we had all of the 18th to play, that's good. Turns out one of the the only days I can play the beta is today =/ And as for x-box live shutting down, the only thing I would be happy about is if they fixed private chat to in-game party chat issues where you can't hear anyone. This is a classic xbox live 360 error. If not, at least they could extend private chat to occupy more folks. I mean they had 3 way calling in the 70's, come on!

Link...? What? You will be purchasing your guardians license on Segas servers anyways, not Xbox Live. Besides, your gamertag is already linked, even in the demo. I added 2 people to my friends list for Live.

Well, from what I've heard they're going to be adding a new Private Chat feature. You can have up to 12 people in one private chat, everyone playing different games etc. But that's all I've heard so far, hopefully it's true because it's a pain in the butt to only be able to talk to one person at a time. ; ;

"My Xbox" are the features on the website, so more than likely nothing will change yet on the actual Xbox Live on the console. They also said in a news post (cant view it now, sites down obviously) that this isnt the "Fall Dashboard Upgrade" either, which will take place next month.

They're just updating the website to allow you to view Marketplace Content (from what I understand). Kinda like when they updated the site to allow you to check your messages. I know it isn't a Dashboard update (multi Private Chat will have to wait T_T).

I'm pretty sure you found out from my post that the credit card service for a GUARDIANS license would be released for PSU, but I don't know why you're certain that the downtime is because of this. It's not a Dashboard update... it's maintenance. It's different. This maintenance will integrate "Live Anywhere" and other kinds of cross platform features. When PSU is out, you will probably find a Dashboard update that day. However, I'm not sure if that will be the Autumn update or a simple mini-update for the credit card service.

Before anyone questions that, you should know I work for a very well known Game publisher meaning I have access to "Partner Net", the test environment version of Xbox Live if you will. The next update looks to include some new look buttons for the Dash too, with pictures integrated into them instead of just text. I've only seen this for one Blade though so it might only be true for that.

But remember, like I said, and like Xbox.com stated before the downtime... maintenance is maintenance - not a Dashboard update.

No. Every 360 player will have to start over again in fresh underwear in the retail release.

Highly doubtful considering this is Beta software. Even though the characters are saved Server Side, a code change may mean that saves from a different build of the game will have adverse effects on the game. So you could end up with corrupt data, weird graphical/collision corruption, etc.

In fact, i'm pretty sure the Beta test (server stress test really) was created from a very old build, as the final build would have to have been in production by the time the Beta came out. I'm not sure if it's the same for other publishers, but in my workplace testing is generally finished about 4-6 weeks before the game hits the shelves

actually technically 00:00am is midnight. 12:00pm is midday and 12:00am pretty much doesn't exist. It's probably human error but deductive logic would point towards an "end of Wednesday" finish. This is because they have said 12:00 instead of 00:00 and said Wednesday instead of Tuesday.. as in Midnight on Tuesday.
