What skin color are you picking

I was playing the beta, and I did not notice many ppl playing around with the skin color option. Back on PSO I do not remember being able to turn my skin dark enough to look like an african american. I think the darkest i could make my male human was the same skin complection as native americans. In the 360 beta I made my guy look african american, I was wondering how many of you are going to bring diversity (skin color wise) to PSU?

I did not put actual colors because I did not want to offend anyone. So I figured the poll selections I chose were the best for pleasing everyone. Sorry for not including Cast selections.

I'm going for Dark skin. It's always been the exotic color choice in Online RPGs. Not only do you stand out, it adds a bit of that mysterious middle-east flavor to it. I mean, it's super easy to make a completely unique character once you do, and if you pick any particular setup with it, without sticking with all defaults. You're likely to be the only one across perhaps all servers looking like that.

Actually, my already-planned character background is a late generation African-descendant that actually grew up in a travelling entertainment show. Kind of like a futuristic circus troupe. Has a specific affinity to dual handguns.

Well, if someone wanted to be overly silly with a known celeb impersonation; it really doesn't matter who they picked, as long as they were being annoying.

My Beta character was pretty much a shoe-in for Billy Dee Williams (aka. Lando http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif ), but that was mainly because....

1. I could actually make a Billy Dee look alike that actually had that visual charm. So I was excited the character creation system was good enough for me to pull that off. Even as a Newman, almost every detail was right (except the hair, but from the front, close enough). Plus, it was only the look I was copying. I wasn't going around trying to be pretentious.

2. It was a Beta, so it was going away anyway. My real character will be of a facial design, I came up with, myself.

As for exotic. I really meant, exotic for an online RPG, or for any JRPG-styled game. I didn't mean exotic, as depending on who's playing them. Dark-skin is *always* an exotic rarity, with these games. Play any online RPG or pretty much any JRPG and that's the case. Though perhaps that will start to change with the latest Guild Wars expansion.

For my female character, almost pale... on my monitor, the lightest pale looks a bit too red i think, so i move it over a few notches.

For my male character, he's pale as well... it seemed like the male/female human skintones were really different from each other. The male skintones are really dark even on the lightest setting, compared to the females, anyway.

Except, you forget. In these cases, the characters are not all asian. In fact, many of them, aren't supposed to be asian at all, except for *select* ones.

...I think you could make african/african american toned FOmars/FOmarls and RAmarls, right? The HUmars were a bit lighter, but still in a tone range that would be possible for an african character.

They're just being stupid because they are, that's it. I wouldn't think anything of it. With the offline game, you'll see a lot of dark-skinned NPCs, as they're trying to make a fully integrated multi-racial and multi-cultural environment for the world of PSU. Though one would appropriately guess that the cultural differences are more attuned to whether they are Human, Newman, Beast, Cast than what they look like, as that race.

On another note... My character is going to be Dark with lightish Blodne hair (I've always had a thing about matching hair color with part of the clothing on my character) and gray eyes. Not a Bishounen, definitely not. I'd post a screen shot... But they all suck because of the capture card used for it, and I don't have Photoshop right now... Waiting for a friend to pretty them up.

My skin tone decision is in no way racialy motivated. When adjusting the different values during character creation I noticed that the darker skin colors make the characters eyes stand out intensly. For me, the effect is desirable and thus the decision was made for a darker skin tone.

Not a bad idea. I guess you would say, my biggest reason is....simply to stand out.

The choice to do such a thing in PSO, was great; because I was so unique, right away. I didn't see more of me, running around. I felt like the exotic different person, on there.

Not sure, if it will be different for PSU, but I figure the choice wont be so popular. A choice that, by itself, greatly heightens the chance of being a one-and-only model.

The developers will do what they know... However, it's not as if the existence of races outside of Asians is a well kept secret. I'm pretty sure they know that people of various skin tones and cultures exist, in and outside of there own country. We shouldn't be glad about anything really, it's a game... And even diversity in a game is never going to be a bad thing, if anything it's just giving the players more options for their characters. And the last time I checked, people liked options in RPG's... I could be wrong though.

And yeah... Only 5 black people in all of Japan. Making up numbers isn't your strong point I'd say.
