any advantage to a melee newman?

for some reason I really like the newman race but also wanted to make a melee character, maybe a force/fighter hybrid, anyway, I was just wondering if im shooting myself in the foot by making a melee newman?

If you're FOCUSING on melee, with a little magic, it's gonna weaken you, but in no way is it the end of the world.
Now, if you focus on magic with some melee on the side, then you've got it made.
