PSU: Where are the Katanas? [Archive]

Ok Duel saber off the bat: check
Sabers off the bat: duh
knife and duel knives off the bat: check
Sword off the bat: check
Lance off the bat: check
various canes off the bat: check
Variuos guns off the bat: check
Katanas off the bat: WHERE ARE YOU!!!!11!

But seriously where are the katanas. An icon hasent been realsed for them so are they gone? Say it isent so!

Err...huh? If you mean Katanas as a weapon type...I doubt it but would be interesting.
....I just remember that there were Katana types in PSO...doh! But I think in PSU they might be under sword or saber.

Yeah that too. But they definately won't have thier own weapon class. That'd just be redundant.

But you have to admit in a realistic situtation Katanas are handled much different then other swords.

Well, not really. They are similar in the fact you use your hand as weapons, but with Knuckles, you punch, and with Claws, you slash or scratch. Think of it like punching gloves and cat claws/iron nails.

A katana is used to it's potential when handled like a katana is supposed to. Realistically though, the masses don't know how to handle a katana. Still, it will be quite effective as a hack and slash weapon none the less. Now having that out of the way, I personally never liked katanas or dual katanas in pso. They were either too slow, or left too many slight pauses that allowed the enemy to sneak a hit in. In any case, give it time. Sega will be adding content to this game for a very long while.

I don't think Katanas are even needed anymore, at least any kind with a metal blade. Because of the new photon-blades, they aren't just 'lightsabers' anymore, and form an actual blade, which was what I assumed the advantage to wielding a katana would be.

hmm, im thinking (like many others) Its gonna be like a rare form of a sword or saber...or twin saber.....kinda like .hack esque were a katana is a rare form of a Great Sword

yeah, I agree, there HAS to be katanas in some form or another. Katanas > ALL other weapons, even guns, they can cut machine gun bullets in half and I'm sure they can even cut through photon as well.

If katana were implemented somehow, I could see them as being a two-handed weapon type that attacks one target, similar to a saber (in the sense that it's used on one target, that is)...

However, they'd need their own set of PAs, and own weapon classification, as well. It'd be nice and all, but there's about as much chance of Katana being implemented, as there is a chance of Slicer and Scythe being implemented, at this point.

If they are not named Sange & Yasha, and Tsumikiri J-Sword then they will fail. They should also have unique attack animations if they are categorized as Twin sabers and/or Swords.

Katanas are a no. First, they sucked in PSO. Second ...heh....a Katana CANNOT cut through a bullet (bullet would just deflect off blade a little and hit you in a different place)

AND...Photon Bullets are ENERGY....well yea

I agree with Kent, but if they do attack one target as a two-handed weapon, hopefully they have really high ATP or hit multiple times.

Katanas in PSO/PSU are for asthetic, this is not a samurai game where it would be prudent to be more genuine with the content.

I'd love to see katanas in PSU, but I can't see it, as all the weapons seem to be photon-based now.

maybe this will get you to respect the katana.

This doesn't make me respect katanas, it makes me respect the craftsman who made them. I'd still prefer a gun over a big knife anyday.

even if they don't add metal katanas, at least they could have photon weapons that in some way LOOK like katanas.
