View Full Version : Need some recommendations (PC Gamepad and Mic/Headset)

Okay with PSU coming out soon I've decided to get a new PC Microphone/Headset and a PC Gamepad. I'm going to be on PC obviously, but with the research I've done I can't find many reviews. So far I've been recommended Logitech Headset/Mic and Logitech dual action ps2 controller with rumble. I've had logitech headsets in the past though and they always seem too small/give ear aches after a while and the mic tends to crap out. I've also used a Logitech dual action ps2 controller w/o rumble and while it worked well for a while, the analog sticks stopped working eventually. I'd prefer a headset/mic with relatively large ear pieces because I have big ears and prefer a Ps2 sized pad, but smaller then a x360 pad.

TLDR? I need a Mic/headset and Gamepad for my PC and I have big ears and prefer ps2 sized controllers.

Halp me, thanks.

I'm just tired of having headsets cramp my ears cause the plastic setting is too small, controllers Im not so picky on.. I just don't like the x360 pad and dont feel like using it. I think I'm going to go with the Logitech Rumblepad.. not sure on headset though.

Theres really no better controller for PC than the xbox 360 controller (not wireless).

The logitech headset is also pretty good. Newegg has it for $14

Do you have a PS2 controller? You might be able to find one of these http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif Cheaper going this way than buying a Xbox 360 controller. But if you like the Xbox360 controller over the PS2. What can I say....

I just went with the Nyko Air Flo EX from Amazon, since I read it was a must have gaming utility in EGM back a while ago, and its gotten good reviews. Plus it was cheap, cheaper then the logitech rumblepad.

As for those headphones, those look right up my alley, thanks Bassec. One more thing, do you have any personal experience with them as far as sound quality and voice quality?

Edit: Ah crap, out of stock! D:... Hmm, any other places I could buy on the cheap you know of?

Awesome link, Kwan. I really appreciate that something like that is out there to make the PS controllers do double duty on the PC. For an oldtimer like me on a strict budget, it certainly helps. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

If theres a console you own with a pad you love, then just buy a PC USB adaptor for it. I'm using my PS2 Dual Shock with PSU.

Well I don't have a PS2, I opted for the Gamecube cause I heard alot of Dreamcast games were going to be ported there *still waiting for Powerstone port), plus plenty of my friends have ps2's so if I wanted to play something Id just go to them.

While I like the gamecube pad I dont think it would bode well with PSU, and I don't feel like getting a ps2 pad if I wont have the console. I think the Nyko will do just fine.

I just bought an Xbox 360 controller for PSU. I've tested it with multiple games, and works very well with all of them. It's really, really comfy, and all the buttons are well-placed. After the initial setup, it's plug-and-play, every time (unless you want to change the controls).

do you have to get the 360 controller that is specifically for the pc or will the normal wired one work?

There's just two versions of a 360 controller... the wireless one, and the wired one. Get the wired one.
