View Full Version : How long will PSU 360 last?

Tetsuro
Oct 22, 2006, 03:07 AM
I recently decided on buying PSU for the 360, however I have a nagging feeling that PSU won't last near as long on the 360 as the PC/PS2. My main reason for this is that most gamers on live seem to jump from one game to the next. Perhaps this fear is unfounded and I'm jsut being paranoid. Anyway, I'm just wondering what the fellow 360 goers think, and if you plan on playing for a long time.

The only game in the 360 library almost close to the PSU genre is FFXI. Trust me PSU 360 will loast a looong time

Have you seen PSO for regular Xbox? I could still go on there right now and *easily* get a party, and that's pretty much the same game that the Dreamcast one was. I wouldn't worry.

No I never played PSO on Xbox, but that is definitely reassuring.

It will last as long as I play.

I'm guessing it will last till Sega pulls the servers or the next Xbox comes out.

PS2 is 6 years old, and you're worrying about the longevity of 360 PSU?

It will last as long as it lasts. I know thats not the answer you want, but no one can predict the future. I dont think you have anything to worry about tho.

It's the exact same 'fear' I had. I was originally going for the PC but after some 360 screens were released I was going with the 360; but as of yesterday, I will be buying the PC.

the 360 XBL community does like to jump from game to game and from some of the random people I played with during the beta, they all sounded as if they were going to be buying the game when it came out and these were people that never played any of the PSO's so.. *shrugs* who knows...

I just want the community that will thrive the most and the longest and I think I've been convinced that the PC will be the one... however I think I may go change my pre order to the 360............ http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

This is the better version of PSO we're talking about here. As long as the servers are alive, there will be players. As long as there are players, the servers will be kept alive. So, I wouldn't worry the 360 servers dying anytime soon. Besides, the game isn't even out yet. XD

PSU will be my biggest investment when it comes to time. I will be on there day and night, when I'm not working, for at least a year.

As long as the updates are kept up to date with PC/PS2 players and stuff, players should keep coming back. I'd say 4-5 years. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Alot of us from back in the day are comming back. We are bringing freinds from FFXI too. Some of them never played PSO. Everyone that tried the Demo, went out and plunked down the cash for purchase...

Never thought it would be so much fun. All were impressed with the emotes too...

It will last all the way to PSU2!

Oh and the PS2 version will still be playable on PS3 so that will last too, at least until they make a updated PS3 version where you hopefully will be able to continue with same account:)

Even though 360 PSU is getting a pretty big response, I really don't think this is the kind of game that a good majority of 360 owners like. Hell, only 10-15% of the people on my friends' list were actually playing, lol.

I think it will last for a long time but your going to see a large part of the player base jump ship as soon as the latest and greatest game comes out. Xbox players dont stick to the same game for very long.

Yes, but FFXI 360 users also got to play with the same server as the people using PC's... because they did it through PlayOnline on both systems, not necessarily xbox live.
So it's hard to tell whether an Xbox360 community can survive entirely by itself...

I don't even know what to think about PS2 users intended to play this game lol... cept to maybe pity them for choosing such a horrible platform for an MMO.

I can run FFXI pretty well actually but I still have doubts about whether I could run PSU half decent... so I prolly will get it for 360 iono.

Something tells me that PSU will do pretty good for itself on the 360, though.

There are still quite alot of people getting it for the 360.

EDIT:Yes, I know this post is a bit hypocritical to the last one I made.

Well, I think PSU 360 would last a while, since many players on 360's will have the xbox live and lots of people like mmorpgs.
I'm personally going with PC, mainly because it looks better than PS2 and because I'm asuming more people since PS2 and PC will be able to play together.
The graphics for the 360 version is said to have enhanced graphics but it seems pretty close to what a computer would have at max settings.
Also another reason why i'm getting PC is because I like to take snapshots.

Oh, here is a thought. Like I said I play FFXI. Some of the friends don't live in the USA. Only way to keep the group on the same server is the 360... Easy way anyways. Also, now we have VC included.

I'll be on PSU360 whenever I have free time. I'm looking forward to bulking up my Friends List with great players from this community!

I cancelled my PSOX hunter's license last week.

As of last week, I could get a game of PSO going in about 10 seconds with a party.

I fully expect PSU to last LONGER on the 360 because it is being launched NEW along with the other platforms instead of a late afterthought like PSOX was.

Classifying all 360 owners in the same way makes about as much sense as saying that the only games americans care about are FPS.

the Xbox360 servers won't last as long as PC/PS2 servers, in the sense that the decrease in community population will occur earlier for Xbox360 than the other systems, especially when Halo 3 comes out.

but ya even so it will still have a community of some kind for years to come, even if only the first 2 universes are filled.

plus thankfully Japan and UK are linked to the Xbox360 US version so that will help keep the community healthy enough to not feel so empty.

but ya if Xbox360 servers fall earlier than expected, there'll always be PC/PS2 servers.

I don't think we'll have anything to worry about. While it's true Live players are finicky, and hard to nail down, I think that's just because Live makes it so easy to get online and play with just about any game in your 360 library. The multiplayer component in most of those other games is not nearly as compelling as PSU's. They jump around a lot because most games on 360 right now don't really have what you could call a dedicated community.

I think PSU will remain strong because the only game even remotely like it is FFXI, and in my opinion PSU will appeal to more people than FFXI. I went out and bought all the stuff I needed to play FFXI on my PS2 (network adapter, hard drive, etc.), and I got tired of it in about as much time as I played the PSU beta. As it is, after just have played the beta, I'm going into withdrawls and all I can think about is getting my hands on PSU when it's released...
