ps2 has made nearly all there game broadband only since nearly 2 years ago even if it needed it or not lol But there is a way around it by running it threw your pc. But i doubt ull be lugging a pc into the hosipital lol Psu will be here when u get out.

Since the PS2 only comes with an ethernet modem, the only way to connect using dial-up is through networking.

ps2 comes with a dial up port but it hasnt been supported by games for it since 2004 Its a bummer because alot of there games could run on dial up easyly lol

The new slim PS2 doesn't come with dial-up support.

My slimline has a phone line port, yet, I've already heard that dial-up + PS2 games are just no goes. PC online for me.

I'm confused, was that Owned towards me or to back my statement up of saying "yes the slimline DOES have a phone-line modem port"? I'm so confused XD but atleast you're providing visual evidence for the non-believers http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

PSU doesn't Support Dial Up.

Also, don't meant to try to get into your business, but out of curiousity, why are you going to be at a Hospital?

PSUPC actually IS played on dial-up. How well however is a mystery even to me, but my guess is that it doesn't perform well. I'll be on wireless most of the time, but ya, I'll be trying dial-up my first day right away just to verify peoples' statements that it actually does work.

I can only imagine the countless errors someone with a dial up modem will enouunter.

The newer models of the slim line had them removed due to the lack of dial-up games, since there basically are NONE.

I got my slim line close to launch, just ran downstairs and checked, and it DOES indeed have a second port titled "LINE" next to the broadband port. I'll try and take a pic with my sister's digi cam tomorrow, but ya, mine does have one. Newer ones such as yours don't because of the lack of use. So, ya... Some have 'em, some don't.

Shouldn't have any problem at all so long as you have a PS2 compatible router or ethernet adapter.

Edited for elaboration.

You mean it disconnected you while you were playing, or it just didn't let you connect?

PSU wasn't made for dailup Yas but it will still work through PC.
as for playing online with a team it maybe best to have only 1 or 2 extra team members than a full 6 member team for Dailup..
other wise you will prob see alot of "Phasing" characters across your screen lol

That probably has nothing to do with the PS2 or your game, but most likely your network.

I personally hate networking and am fairly illiterate when it comes to it, but how old is your router, and were you connected directly to it or wirelessly with an ethernet adapter?

EvoKiske

mmhm.

same here, i am illiterate to networking.

i was connected to a floor port.

so maybe that could have been it.

Floor port?

So like, your floor is giving you internet access?

During the 360 beta I played with a guy that was on dialup.. and if he never said it himself, I wouldn't notice.. well, only the longer waiting times for him appearing in a new block.

Good to know. I didn't know that 360 could be played via dial-up. Maybe there's still hope for my PS2. Also, no one would ever know if someone was playing on dial-up unless they stated it. Just for the records, if my PS2 definately will not work (I'll try it myself) with dial-up, then my laptop will be playing via wireless (I prefer console more).

And for the record, if anyone wouldn't want to play with me just because of my internet connection, I wouldn't play with them to begin with. It's like saying I won't play with a ::insert race here:: man just because he might steal my items.

oh its ok to ask. i thought most people knew already from all our other goofy threads that got moved or that is old now lol. im a cancer patient doing chemo. i was suppose to go in for a round today usually last 4-7 days in hospital, so i got mad cause i wanted to play psu lol guess ill have to wait for my laptop. good news is!! they didnt admit me because my last round messed up my mouth so their ganna check me again wednesday(psu comes out) hopefully my mouth is still messed up lol.

i ordered psu for pc but in hospital we can use dial up and in 1 room we can use broadband.since i have chemo then like right after surgery i wont get to play psu for like 2 weeks from day it comes out. *careface* so imma buy ps2 version and try to play in hospital using their broadband dunno if it will work, because when i tried 360 beta got an MTU error on test screen so yea~.

Why does everyone and their fucking grandma want to know if they can play PSU on dial-up?

GET WITH THE FUCKING TIMES: GO GET DSL OR CABLE SERVICE. Unless you live out in the middle of nowhere, in which case kill yourself.

So angry... did your daddy beat you with a 28k modem when you were young or something?

On a side note; for christ's sake play it on high speed. I hate playing Halo 2 against people using a network to play it dial-up, it ruins things for everyone involved >.<

That's not good news at all! If I had to choose between playing PSU a week earlier or not having a messed up mouth, I'd choose the latter. PSU can wait! We'll be here when you get out!

you my friend need to calm down and check yourself out. there is a reason why i asked no reason to be a douche bag about a question. i have a 15 mps connection at home... but i wont be home for 2 weeks most likly so im trying to figure out alternative ways to play while im not home.. so next time if you dont have something postive to contribute to a topic think twice before you click the "Submit" button

Some people plain and simple don't have the extra money to afford the luxury of high speed internet. People have bills to pay, gas to purchase, and food to buy to support themselves and their girlfriend. With dial-up only being $9.99/month, it's decent enough to satisfy certain consumers. Sure, I can afford broadband, but an additional $10/month just for a constant high speed connection just isn't worth it to me. $10 could buy some candy and flowers for my girlfriend, in which in return I'll get so much lovin' that I won't know what to do with it.

PS: As a side note, I'll be playing via wireless. So, I'm simply stating facts.

So is the PSU PS2 Version "Broadband Only"?
I thought some importers tried it on Dial up and lagged somewhat badly.

Did you just yell at a cancer patient for wanting to use dial up while he's at the hospital getting chemo? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

yes PS2 psu is broadband only since they have the "broadband only" sticker next to the sony logo on the main site. But you can route a dial up connection to your ps2 to bypass it , if you have to.

Like how Xenokai did in his video to play the x360 beta.

No pictures but it's a simple procedure overall.
