I know that the ps2 version is gonna run and look much worse than the 360 version but I was just wondering how much worse its gonna be. I want my friend to play it with me but he doesnt have a 360 so I would have to get the ps2 version. also, does anyone have like a few screenshots comparing the graphics of the two? thx

ok well, after some searching I found a comparison picture but had a hard time finding anyone talking about how the ps2 actually handeled the game (lag and such) does anyone have any comment on that? I played the demo and am wondering what I should be expecting

They both look awesome. The PC will; as confirmed by my Computer Gaming magazine, look crisper and overall better than the console versions.

God bless this magazine. <3

The videos that supposedly show the PS2s lag is minimal at best. It won't ruin your experience and you'll hardly notice it.

For the record I didn't even see said slow downs on said videos.

"The visuals in the work-in-progress game we're trying out are looking uneven across the three platforms it's appearing on. The game looks most comfortable on the PlayStation 2, which is a good fit for the graphics on display"

Drayma should be dragged out into the street for linking that old preview of the 360 game.

Anyone who's played the Beta as well as the PS2 version of the game can tell you that the 360 version is clearly superior to the PS2's version in terms of graphics. Same could be said about the PC version..

The PS2 version is easily the WORST in the graphical department, but the game is still playable none-the-less..

PS2 may be the worst graphically, however it's the cheapest port.

An easy $200 for the system, game, memory card, and keyboard will easily out-do any of the other ports in budget. The graphics and slight slowdown on the PS2 version hardly make the game's overall quality worse than the other ports.

Q: What's more important to you: Friendship or better graphics?

A: Better graphics.

errr, iam in thsi same boat but worst. I have 3 friends getting the 360 version, then 5 others getting pc/ps2. Iam thinking of getting both http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

ive seen videos of both and I have a hard time telling the difference. besides, odds are after a few hours I wont even care, plus I hate voice chat enough to make the slightly worse graphics bearable

In reality all the differences are only truly noticeable to perfectionists. i mean i really dont care and could play on any system and it would be the same experience to me. But thats just me.

Wow, did you realize most of the average user's videos for the 360 version are done in 480i? (Mostly because almost NOBODY has equipment in their PC to capture HD footage.. HD component capture cards easily cost a couple of thousand.. so people capturing XBox360 video are capturing it at 480i.. which is the SAME resolution as the PS2 version..)

EDIT: And to the other guy.. differences only noticable to perfectionists? Get the hell out of here. Obviously, you must be running both the 360 version and PS2 versions on a standard TV.. either that or you're blind

In my oppinion, buy the PS2 version. Sure you can make new friends on the 360 one and still be able to talk about the game with your friend, but if this friend of yours is a really good friend that you know you'll enjoy playing with, play on the same platform/server.

I for one can easily state that playing with an online friend rather than my best friend in real life just cannot be compared. You'll be able to joke about real life incidents, talk about what's going on, etc. Sure the graphics are crisper on 360, but if friendship is the key for you, go with PS2. If not, leave your bud in the dust and run to the 360 XD.

HONESTLY THO... the difference is marginal....
definitely not worth going out and buying a 360 just to play this game at its highest plato
of course the 360 will look better but again its all about the gameplay experience
they are pretty much equal across the charts on that aspect
people make it seem like were comparing the original nintendo to playstation 1 graphics

DoubleJG

Nice statement made Blacc.

Oh, and I didn't know that this was a band lol. Is it yours? I'm listening to them right now, it sounds good, pretty much X BGMs turned metal which is awesome.

So true.. playing 360 games on 480i is a waste of the machine anyway..

360 version

Friends on gamertag > Friends on partner card
Join session in progress ftw! (This is for when you can't connect to servers)
Better graphics, better control pad custom music. (I'm gonna play Moatoab over Parum lol)
Private Chat (Just to talk to your friend and ignore that little kid yelling)
Runs at 60 fps

Need I say more?

Just thought I'd through this out there...I only have a standard definition tv....and comparing the japn ps2 to the 360 beta, the 360 version still looked waaaay better even with no HD. It's hard to go back and play the ps2 ver now that I've been spoiled XD.

OgSoulja

Get the ps2 version more people playing and its cheaper. I played beta on xbox360 at buds house and he has HD looks awesome but who really cares like cmon is that serious that you MUST play on a HD TV......plus save money ps3 coming out aand its gonna pwn all. u can also play psu on ps3..uber.

what framrate does the ps2 version run at?

ProfessorZ
Oct 23, 2006, 09:50 AM
30 fps

Blacc
Oct 23, 2006, 10:04 AM
30fps is fine for me

Callous
Oct 23, 2006, 10:17 AM
Are we talking 30fps minimum, or does it dip to 15-20/whatever?

Also, what worried me even more is what I watched in one of the PS2 videos. Character clothing loaded extremely slow. The person had to get really close to people and stand there for like 5-7 seconds before the models loaded. Is it like that all the time, in missions too? If so, I might actually end up getting some financing for a laptop just to not have to deal with this.

Yoiyami
Oct 23, 2006, 10:22 AM
It dips, unfortunately. And I noticed the load times in the videos too. It's really a shame, but a lot of people seem to care more about the gameplay than the graphics and such.

Callous
Oct 23, 2006, 10:25 AM
I do care a lot more about the gameplay and general aesthetics than I do about resolution and such, but those load times were horrendous looking.

Yeh ps2 is prob the cheapest and more efficent if you can deal with the tugging of slight lag and slight less graphic flaw

Pros of PSU on PS2:

Hassle free start up and play
Cross platform with PC players
US and EU servers connected

Cons of PSU of PS2:

Jaggied graphics
Framerate Issue
------------------------------

Pros of PSU on Xbox 360:

Sharper graphics
Widescreen/HD TV support
Xbox Live
Voice Chat
US, EU, and JP servers connected

Cons of PSU on Xbox 360:

Old-gen graphics on a Next-gen system
Servers are separted from PS2/PC players
$10.00 more expensive then PS2/PC version
Voice Chat

My opinion.
