View Full Version : My Aesthetic Dilemma

A while back, when I was messing with the beta "character create", I had my character all sculpted out... But there was one problem....
The hair I wanted to use had a clipping error with the newmans upward ears
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b174/r-kun/problem.jpg

I was hoping that they would have fixed this problem with the full version... but I haven't looked into it yet.
Basically, all I'm asking is... Anyone who has the jp full version... Do you happen to know if this clipping error still exists?
If so... I will be very put off... As I was really set on those ears with that hair... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

I feel your pain... I've had problems like these in other games that make me have to completely rethink my character...

However, you should go into the game with this character and see how noticable it is, when you're not all zoomed up.

Yea, but with the miracle of cut in chats, my unsightly ear hair will be obvious to everyone! ><

Ew!

However, you can turn your head slightly in the Cut In Chat Window. So just angle it so no one sees that gross ear hair of yours!

Gah.... You could always see how the floppier ears look?... maybe? Another, similer, hair-style perhaps? I'm sure with all the options you could find another combonation that you like just as much... Maybe.... Possible.... If your lucky?.... One-of-these-days.... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_confused.gif

yeah that is kind of noticeable...lol. I don't know if that will get fixed in the final version. That's going to stop people from using that hair/ear setup.

That is incredibly stupid and I can't say I'm happy with sega for overlooking somthing as obvious as this... I mean, someone in the JP beta all those months back had to have noticed this and said something. I would think that when the game designers are making the hairstyles, it would be customary to make sure it doesn't have any of these obvious clipping issues. And it's not like the hairstyle wouldn't have worked if they had just moved some of those polygons around. You can't even really see the hair in that place if you have human ears, so why it was necessary to remain precisely as it is is stupid...

There are 2-3 kinds of Newm ears, just try the others ;P.

dammit, this is really irritating.... I was really set on those ears with that hair... The outward ears look to dopey if you ask me, and the middle ears still have the clipping problem to some degree.

Is it possible that it has something to do with your graphics settings? As if it only does that on lower graphical settings?

Well...

There's not much you can do about it. Pick a different hair style or something, or go with the outward ears. Or just keep the pointy ears and deal with the clipping.

As a sidenote:

I'm almost certain they modeled all the hairstyles for humans and then applied them to the other races after the fact without making the necessary changes. Kinda annoying.

Just think of it as her normal hair falling on both sides of her ears and clearing into them. Or pick different ears.

At least it's not as bad as the HUnewearl's shorts on the GameCube failing to cover the tops of her legs.

Bet it works fine with every single other ear though.

My human ranger had not the long hair but hair that went through some of my clothing, its noticeable but while you play it's perfectly ignored or harder to spot in the thick of it.

*edit* seems your ear hair is more noticeable now I seen those slow loading images :E
