alright possibly dumb question here but are the characters you use in extra mode the same as your network character ?

and as well is there a way to play your network character without having the internet connection?
somewhat like offline mode for PSO

and one last one

PSO was multiplayer OFFLINE is PSU as well?

sorry Im asking so many obvious questions but I dont have the time this week to research it myself

network characters and extra mode are seperate. all charaters on netwrok mode are saved ont the server in order to try and stop people from cheating on teh game. Now in PSU theres a story mode which makes it inot a rpg once again.

There is no Multiplayer offline for PSU, there is extra mode, which allows you to pretty much play Network mode offline, but only by yourself (and with NPCs).

so basically the network characters are server side while the extra characters are client side Is there any way to transfer items between them?

No. That would open the door way open for hacked items.

I still think they should let you save your online character offline to use in story mode, just not let anyone upload anything.

MXdude, that makes no sense. The only way to do that is to upload your online char to an offline char permanently. ST doesn't want anything that isn't held by them to go online. It's called security, and it's a damn fine idea.

Solution:

Create the same character that you make in Network mode in Extra mode or the other way around.. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

While I could see people wanting a one-way transfer from online to offline just to play their character offline, it wouldn't really work what with the different leveling progression, different items, different class functionalities, etc.

It makes perfect sense and is very feasible.

well im not very concerned about levels, just those items you work hard for to obtain that will go away when the servers shut down, or you decide to cancel your GL. Like in pso, i like that fact that items i found are in my possesion at all times.

Yes, and we're all glad that it'll really help stop hacks.

Ever play pso...

MXdude
Oct 24, 2006, 05:39 PM
yup, for lots and lots of hours too. But idk why you are asking that seeing as pso didnt have a one-way save system such as the one being discussed....

Ok, but with no clear cut reasoning from you of how one would be able to hack the online portion of the game using this method i cant take your opinion seriously http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I appreciate your input though.

Do you know who broomop is? How is he going to hack a character that is stored in ST's server database instead of his own harddrive (like with pso)?
Dunno why it's so hard to understand, I thought everyone understood the simple reason why ST changed how PSU works in these regards.

Maybe you didnt understand what i meant by this, and maybe i am not understanding you fully, if so i apologize. What i proposed was a way to save your online data to the offline portion of the game. Now, there is still no way this Broomop is going to be able to hack his character on the ST server. All he will be able to do is hack his offline character that others have already done. Im not saying make it like PSO in which the online character is stored outside of ST's server, im saying just be able to save that character info online and download it then load it in extra mode. In no way is there any info being loaded into the ST server this way.

I have been looking at the multiplayer on PSU and i noticed that it never says anything about offline multplayer. I kind of just expected to have offline multiplayer like episode 1 and 2. Does this game really not have offline multiplayer?

same concept I have on my mind
