PSU+ new model PS2 Question

I know there was a topic talking about this, but I want to re-confirm it. Sorry for the topic. Can you play PSU on the new PS2 model ? or will it work only on the older, bigger versions ? because my old PS2 wont read disks, the only game that I can play on it is FFXI since it has that device hooked up to the HDD. I know the new PS2 models have a built in connection for boradband services, but I wanted to double check.

They have external hdd now for the slim PS2,so the old PS2 is pretty much worthless to some.

actually, the fat ones are better runless you wanted to do some kinda disk swap thing the hard way.
Reason why I think they are better is because they don;t heat up so fast and the newest models(silver slim ones) don't play a few games. I didn't know most of them except for Tekken 5. I like the Tekken series a lot and if Tekken 5 wasn
t playable I wouldnt bu the newest model. I'd wait for PS3 anyway haha
