I have already checked the Walmart computer for XBOX PSO... the computer program basically lets you enter a supplier/publisher (or whoever actually makes the item that you are looking for)...

anyways... it isnt listed under Microsoft at all (MS has several vendor numbers in the computer), and it isnt being published by Sega but to be on the safe side I looked at Sega's items too... nothing...

On a side note... what I see on my store's computer is what my store has been uploaded with... other Walmarts might have a different listing... I might be able to bring it up from another store's computer if I had the actual UPC from the XBox version... but that wont be happening anytime real soon...

on a side note (and not to start any other rumors)...
I did ask the MS XBOX rep at my store about PSO... he would NOT give me an exact date... this is how it went down...

Me: Hey... I have a question for you... when is the XBox version of PSO coming out?
MS Rep: After the 15th.
Me: This month or next year?
MS Rep: It will be out after November 15th... It needs the XBox Live kit to work online so it wont be out til after the 15th...

He never would tell me if the game was coming out this month though.... he only said "after the 15th"...

Ehh... if this prediction is anywhere near as accurate as my prediction of the FOmar's max ATP, then we'll be seeing Xbox PSO on Dec. 17th. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I wonder why all the secrecy, why they haven't given us an official date yet. Or else they just don't know yet. I just don't see why they wouldn't have a date set yet, even if they haven't announced it. I mean, is there actually anything big that needs to be done before it can be released?

Im sure this has been said but.
A friend that works for EB said that the xbox rep told him that the game is finished and ms can release anytime.

Yeah, this was released in a Gamespot interview with Yuji Naka a few weeks back. Which is why I'm sure they must HAVE a release date set. They just apparently don't want to tell us yet.

From my experience with console reps I find they tend to be misleading. Anyway Gamespot is stating in a recent upcoming XBox Live game list that PSO is in 2003 . But like most of us I think they are just assuming. We'll find out soon if it's going to sneak out this week.

m$ would be stupid not to rls it before christmas...as much as i want my pso this month, that dec 17th date sounds a helluva lot better than gamespots's "2003." but you know, screw gamespot, they have virtually NO coverage on the xbox version of pso, so why should we believe them on an "assumed" rls date?

A good deal of the BattleTech mechs were originally lifted straight from Macross/Battletech. There were even Valkyries/Veritechs -- though in BattleTech they didn't transform.

I'm not sure if they still use those in BattleTech, but back in the day with the paper-based RPG, BattleTech was almost all Macross mechs.

As for Xbox PSO, it's Nov. 15, and no news. I've been digging around all morning. Yesterday was the last day to return my GC PSO (I had 14 days to return for a in store exchange and I bought PSO on Halloween). But there's no news on Xbox -- just that it might be release *sometime* in 2003. I'm not waiting till March, April, May, June... I've waited enough to get away from cheaters on PSO.

Since Japanese Live! beta test begins on the 21st with PSO, I was thinking that M$ may want to see it running online first before selling it in the US.

Looking at the incompetence showed by ST on GC PSO, I really wouldn't blame them if it was the reason for the delay..

It should have been a launch title. It would have helped Microsoft considerably in the US. An online RPG would have really rounded out the offering on Xbox. And in another 5-6 months, the graphics will look even more dated to the average gamer out there... (don't get me wrong -- I love PSO graphics with all my heart. Why do you think I play an HUnewearl? LOL)

I would have waited till today if PSOX were a launch title. Now I'm getting excited about all the other GC titles. M$, you lost a customer...

you're right. The longer PSO is delayed, the harder it will have to fight with newer online RPGs.
Like True Fanstasy Online or Megami Tensei.

Although I'm absolutely not interested in it, True Fantasy Online looks like the perfect online RPG to initiate Joe Average to the genre.

uhh...okay, lookie here. sega and nintendo are japanese companies, so thats kinda obvious for why the gcpso was rls'ed in japan first. but m$ is american, so why would they rls in japan first? and as for seeing it running online, well, there really isnt much difference between americans and japanese cept for the whole language barrier thing...there's plenty of hackers in both places, and no matter how hard you test it or where you test it, there will always be cheats eventually...http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

True Fantasy looks fun to me. I would have spent my money on it instead of PSO if I had the chance -- especially if it's online only -- less chance of hacks.

By March 2003, there will be other more sophisticated online RPGs out. Phantasy Star will likely only appeal to the hardcore PSO players. In fact by then, I'll have likely moved on to Everquest or Final Fantasy XI or True Fantasy.

Because it's a beta release in japan. And it's better to screw up and wipe clean with beta testers than with paying customers on release.

PSO beta test begins on the 21st of this month in japan, not january.
I don't think that PSO was completed before Xbox Live american beta began.

xbox live beta jus finished up, and psox has been complete for quite some time now. ST stated a while ago that the game was complete and out of sega's hands...m$ has had it for a while, it could have EASILY been fit into the beta project.

Yeah, like most people are saying, Microsoft would be just shooting themselves in the foot by delaying PSO's release, unless there is something we don't know that really needs to be worked out/fixed before it can be released. They may not consider PSO a vital part of the Xbox lineup, but they'll certainly be losing buyers to the GC version the longer it's delayed. I hope this isn't some effort to get PSO diehards to buy both versions...and with Microsoft publishing it, I'm not sure why it would be.

At this point, it seems like they want us to cross our fingers, wish on falling stars, and toss pennies into fountains, hoping that our wish for PSO in 2002 will be answered.

Not saying that it could be released on this date but I also have a good feeling about that Dec. 17th thing (my sister's lucky number that comes up everywhere). Also the pics I posted earlier where from a press meeting with the finished version of PSO for Xbox, now all they have to do is put a release date on it. I'll see if I can go scavenge up sumthin new later.

Yeah, I don't care if the Xbox version has any better graphics than the GC version. As long as it looks just as good, I'll be perfectly happy. With how quickly they got the game ready for Xbox, I didn't expect them to make many graphical enhancements.
