He would have to run the PC bersion under boot camp.

Macs are so retarded. A Mac I used before required clicking something onscreen to open the disk tray. … how lame is that?

P.S.: A lack of understanding and knowledge of the platform is a very poor excuse for discrimination. Please stay on topic and try to be helpful. Thank you for your understanding.

what if your monitor doesn't work? you'll have to take apart the machine to get your disk back. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Boot Camp is a free Apple developed program that will allow you to install and run windows on a Intel based Mac computer.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/

It still is a beta but those who have tried it are reporting native speed on their mac.

It will most probably be final with the release of the next version of Mac OS X scheduled for a spring release. You can use the Beta in the meantime if you don't mind the lack of first party support.

Does your brother have a Mac with an intel processor?

No Mac native FFXI.

There is a Mac version of WoW.

For the record, every single one of blizzard's products has been both for PC and Mac, generally simultaneously. FFXI, never on mac.

People play WoW on MAC, not FFXI (I think).

Newer MAC's are a lot like PC's, since 'under the hood' they are now Unix workstations.

My G5 that I use at work kicks all sorts of azz. 30" monitor, 4GB ram, 512mb video card.

I use a PC at home.

I have <3 for both platforms.

All games by blizzard work on macs of their days to my knowledge.

That includes WoW. Although Macs get a huge amount of flac for not being gamer friendly pc's, I would like to see how anyone would do any media-associated job without knowing how to use one. Boot camp also has been proven to run CS:S almost the same as a Windows PC with equal specs to said mac. Macs can game, but for a much higher price due to proprietary builds and boot camp costing a bundle.

I will not take insult but please stop with the condesending and uninlightened opinions. It's very impolite. The thread is not about you not liking Mac but about somebedy requesting help.

at this rate PSU is more likely to appear on Wii than on a Mac. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Yep Blizzard is one of the few companies that knows that the mac,s are the way to go.

I wish it appeared on wii, but since the wii is going so much around their motion-sensitivity technology I doubt that Sega would venture there with a game with no support for it at all.

Ok.

Before trying anything. We must find out if he has:

- An intel-based Mac
- Installation disks for Windows

Boot Camp is a free download.

The desktop intel Macs are: Mac Pro, Mac Mini (Intel) and iMac (Intel).

http://guides.macrumors.com/Category:Mac_Desktops

The Intel Mac Mini and iMac look identical to the older non-Intel version from the outside. If he doesn't know which one he has, he can find out from the Apple Menu -->*About this Mac.

lol look at that guy making fun of gaming on pc but then turns out hes making morefun of mac gameing then anything else.

i look it this way i love macs for art and thats all their good for. people who make fun of pcs say stuff like "its for the stuff you have to do" are stupid and a bunch of fan boys . i think both pc and macs got things going for them. so simple.

another thing if mac fanboys hate pc's and windows so much. why buy a mac with an intel chip and why put windows xp on your system. like carlos mencia says DEE DEE DEEE

I love my Mac. LOVE it. Far prefer it over my PC, but its not a gaming machine, at least not mainstream things. I save things like PSU for my lowly testing computer (PC - its all I use it for - games and testing web designs). http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I don't mind, even if your preconceptions are flawed. Macs only have 6 games, they can't open word files, Canadians live in Igloos, americans are all fat, etc… http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

It's just that the original poster will have to filter out half the posts in his/her thread to find the useful information he/she requested. That being said… I can't wait to get online and play with you all.

Hm, I got myself a macbook recently.
I hope the Intel GMA945 is enough for PSU.

I could sell my old PC then, thanks to Bootcamp. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Just wanted to confirm:

PSU will run on Windows XP SP2 under Bootcamp on the new Intel chipped Macs.
I'm running it on a Macbook Pro without any problems.

Simmeri-If your're playing on a Macbook, make sure to have as much RAM as you can possibly get. The integrated video card on the Macbooks relies heavily on RAM, unlike a dedicated graphics unit.

Seconded! Got a mac mini and bought a new intel mac JUST for PSU.
Macs can basicly do the same as a PC and more now so I don't get all these people talking like they're impossible to use.
And I won't even go into how Vista practically IS mac os.

No problem! I have to admit I was a little nervous considering I needed a Mac for school (art student) and I was spending so much cash on the system, Windows XP and the game. There was a big sigh of relief when I saw that title screen come up. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

To tell you the truth, it runs better on my Macbook Pro than it does on my friend's gaming PC.

That's called "Parallels", and it's 100 billion degrees of awesome in one circle. It lets you run two OS's at once, and the window'd OS basically runs at native speeds. There is a windows and linux version too, so people have got PSU working under Linux I imagine.

PSU runs okay under parallels. Not great though, and it took some tinkering to get it to display anything. It's probably best to run it under Bootcamp, as is the case for most games.

On the Mac Vs. PC debate...

There is no reason to buy a PC costing over US$1000 now. Macs do everything your PC does (include run windows), and then more.

Mac OS X is far more secure and stable than Windows XP at this point. For those thinking Vista will change things, reconsider. Already Vista is a security fiasco. They rewrote the network stack for Vista from scratch. Security-conscious people will realize what an incredibly bad idea that is. Attacks on Windows 3.1 and 95 are resurfacing because they work against Vista!

Mac OS X is currently winning the application war as well. Anything you cannot run in Mac OS X (a vanishingly small number of things, mostly games) can be run via the free Dual-Boot mode or the fancier Parallels software package (which is dirt cheap for what it does).
