everytime i load up game, or exit out of it, it just freezes up my computer and I cant do anything, forced to do a cold boot. This is getting beyond annoying.

What kind of video card are you using? Have you updated drivers lately?

Go to the website of your hardware manufacturer; they typically will have drivers under their support category.
