Yes, Partner character deaths (NPC/PM) do count against you...
Which can make managing boss battles with them insufferable...

oh man soloing is a pain unless you're like 10 levels above the boss
When i first got my Tatoo I went straight to soloing the boss.
Ended up taking enough damage to NB twice in the fight

Being a Ranger on the demo made De Ragan a bit easy, if long. I think I was level 10 or there abouts & I just spent the entire time pot shotting from distance, didn't have to use a single health/photon charge though. Just patience http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Before I got my ps2 adapter I played Extra mode quite a bit and I found Rangers> All in vs bosses because it doesn't matter where the boss is when you attack it, just that you can attack it.
