View Full Version : Why are English voice actors always so terrible?

I just got PSU the other day but I have a few bones to pick with it, the main one being that Ethan's voice actor is horrible (no surprise there). I mean when he gets excited I'm taking hyperactive voice crack! Is there any way to change the voice actors to Japanese without changing the written language too?

Why don't you just consider sticking to a language that you'll be able to understand. Look at it this way: At least with the English voice actors, you KNOW whether or not they're doing a good job. Without a functioning understanding of the spoken Japanese language, you have absolutely no idea whether or not the Japanese voice actors are awesome or terrible. Sure, you may think they're doing a fine job, but for all you know, their inflections could be incredibly off from what they should be.

Personally, I'm not bothered by Ethan's voice. Very seldom have I been bothered by an English-language Voice Actor, and the only instance that stands out in my mind is Mega Man 8, where Capcom had the bright idea to have the original Japanese voice actors do the English voices, as well. There are reasons why we have our own dubs over here in English-speaking countries, kemosabi.

Then again, quick regionalizing of Castlevania SOTN by the Japan development team for creating English dialogue is pretty swank.

>_> You don't need to understand a language to understand emotion. The japanese reflect emotion well in voice acting compared to a number of American VAs.
