My horrible day :( and Good news!

As I got home from school today , I was very excited, today was when i get paid, so i go to work, and get my paycheck. Get it cashed, then go aquire some friends. Then I take a trek to the local Best buy, where I find, on god, they dont have PSU. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
Then, I say "Game stop shoudl have it" And OMG Gamestop has it!
So I get PS2 version, and PC. PS2 for my brother. I get home and all excited, pop the game in my dvd drive. OMG it wont work.

DRive works for other DVD's and PC-CD's
Just not PSU.
Game stop has no more PC versions.
Wow, no where else withen a 50 mile radius has it for a few days. Now im stuck waiting a a few more days, and this sucks, watching my brother play the ps2 version right beside me and my not working.

did you install the direct x on the disc?

That's...odd. Couldn't the problem be your drive? Seeing as we've heard no more reports of this error it could be the case, maybe your drive isin't compatible or something, for your sake I hope no though. Best of luck getting the game up and running though, hope you get in asap.

Sure you have a dvd-rom drive? If not theyre only about 20-35 bucks, should be no problem getting one, or replacing yours if it is the problem, otherwise I guess you'll have to wait....

I highly doubt its the problem, It picks up my BF 2 PC-CD, and it picks up my FFXI PC-DVD, and PSU is PC-DVD, so I'm guessing its the game. I called game stop, no more till next monday. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

I was reading someone post on tech support forum that they had to eject the disk a couple dozen times before the drive would read it, not quite sure how their install went. You may want to also test the dvd on another drive if possible. preferably a different brand.

easy solution. use bit torrent and download the game. since you already paid for a copy and everything, there should be no moral problems.

That sucks man, almost as bad as mine. I picked up the copy ready to rock but not one store out of 5 stores in my town had a ps2 network adaptor. Apparently it's discontinued, friggin sony, now i gotta wait for one from ebay.

i bought the PC version for my 4 month old laptop, i meet and exceed requirements, i install the game, i go to install the game, then i go to play...

BOOM! nothing happens, it just closed as if i hit exit. options work, the link to the website works, even exit works! just not network or offline mode.

WTF, i am pissed

To the ^ poster, if it's having errors like that try to uninstall and reinstall. Heard it worked for some.

Trilom the problem in your end is your drive. Here's why.

Your cd/dvd drive should recognize any disc. EVEN if the disc has a error, your drive would tell you so. It would say invalid disc or some other sort of error. For it to say nothing at all, as if the disc isn't even IN there. Thats allll yoru disc drive.

Try disabling in-memory services. When I was trying to use ... I forget the name, Pinnacle Game Controller? Something like that, that maps buttons to keyboard, it would do that on me. I disabled it, and it worked fine. I think it's something to do with gameguard, it's probably considering the in-memory service as a hack.

Not true. I fixed my by uninstalling McAfee Privacy Service. What I think you meant to say was there is no catch all fix to relive the problem.

It's crazy, really. Some people fix it by upping frame count to 3, some people can play when they soft boot, some can do it when trying in 10 minute intervals. It's crazy...but there ARE solutions.

I had the same problem..I put my PSU CD into my DVD Drive and it worked, if I put it in my CD drive, it did not work.

yea, i guess there is a difference between the directx 9.0c on the cd and the one online, i thought DX9.0c was DX9.0c no matter where you got it! i guess i was wrong.
