According to the (reliable) Italian site nextgame, Sega will relase an updated version of JP GCN PSO the next month.

Full story here: http://www.nextgame.it/html/notizia.php?id=19548

I was looking for a confirmation on other Web sites but I have not found anything right now... >_>

BTW, the article says that this "second" version will fix the dupe bug (plus other bugs) and will be distribuited for free to any customer that will send back to Sega his/her current copy of JP GCN PSO (guess importers will have to find a workaround...).

I keep looking on other Web sites if I can find a confirmation...

I read something similar at ragol.com and gamefaqs, but it said the fixed version coming in december only fixes the PPPoE BBA bugs and that dupe will be fixed at a later date.

Exactly.
I submitted it as news 4 days ago using http://www.gamespot.de as reference, but I guess I'm not in the right circle of friends.

I doubt it. There is way too many people with jp version for this trade in to work. But if so, will you be allowed to transfer your character?

From what i read it's not compulsory, only people who are having problems should trade theres in, it's not like a totally new version just has a BBA bug fix.

Come on... "circle of friends" now? I submitted dozens of news to PSOW and just, maybe, 4 or 5 were published... And as far as I know I'm not in any "circle of friends" here, and after all we are not in competition. If you feel so... well... that's your problem. ^_^;

And if you waste 5 mins to read that news you will notice that it talk about the network bugs fix AND dupe bug fix. It can be an error or can be an additional information that gamefront didn't report. >_>

i'm sorry there is no such thing as the right circle of friends. neko is right. sorry to disappoint but it's a matter of who gets the story in first.

Just for everyone's enlightenment: The new version of PSO will be made available in December, first from Sega and from retailers in Japan shortly after. It fixes some bugs relating to PPPoE and the BBA, as well as all of the dupe bugs Sega seems aware of. You must mail your current copy of GC PSO (obviously, the Japanese version), to an address provded by Sega, and they will mail to you a replacement copy of the new version. So far, from what I can discern from my sources, you will only need to mail in the actual disc itself. The new version will somehow mark your charcters so the previous version can't use them. Servers setup for the corrected version will be linked to the US servers. I wasn't able to find out what will happen to the inventory's of characters from the old JP version, weither or not they will be allowed to keep current items. More than likely your items will still be there, and there will be a slight excess of some rares to contend with for a short while.

no worries here. If you submitted first, then it's all good and clean for me.
Was just worrying to see it pop up only 4 days later, after numerous announcement about other things on the front page that happened later than submission.

I did read the article in Italian.
But I didn't think it was accurate since correcting dupe bug would need a compulsory change in servers, and THAT would be big news.

Fair enough then.
But since it takes so much time to get processed (I don't care about the reasons, not criticizing here), I'll just post on the general board.

So, jp players who opt in to the fixed version won't be able to continue playing with their jp buddies ... wow, what a big incentive ..
Only the ones that really have problems with their BB ISP will consider changing I think.. Or maybe even not..

since the change is free, i think most japanese will switch to the newer version...

at least the ones that matter to me, will ^_^
