View Full Version : PSU-Mission: What many don't know about: Having NPCs in a On

Many players don't know that you can summon NPC's in Online mode. I have tested this yesterday and played with my Trainer, Hyuga Ryght. Now these guys may not be all that bright but they will revive themselves if they die every minute. I put this to the full test when me and guild member jordon456 (Jordan) went on a raid. It was just, the Trainer, Jordan and I. Hyuga also healed us as well, and was a good shield. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Better weapons too.

During the boss fight with De Ragon, he died about 10 times and was the most funninst thing I ever saw in PSU. Hyuga was BBQ'ed multiple times, but got right back up and helped us out. As long as the one who added him to the party is alive, he will revive himself in about 30 seconds to 1 minute. NPC is always 3 levels ahead of you so it's a good thing

NPC's are really good and can give you a nice feel of how your PM will fight (maybe even better). So I thought I'd share that with everyone. I would like to see if I can get 3 trainers in a party at once. Now that will be a sight for sore eyes.

Oh, also Trainers don't Rez players. We died before we got to boss (cuz of lag spike) and he just stood there.

Actually he stood inbetween our dead corpeses, glaring at me and saying "Ryogen, don't quit on me now!" (no joke).

So, when they die it effects the S rank, right?

NPC deaths count against your ranking, right?
Also, does anyone know if PM's will act like NPCs when they follow you around eventually? And if they can die? (and if that affects ur ranking?)

Yes, when they die your rank goes down. I've had Maya and Hyuga die on me. Lou is pretty tough though.

Yes. You can't actually save him. The Rezing makes up for his AI. If you ever played Oblivion and you kill an important character, they become unconcious...then they get back up after a minute and a half. It's kinda like that.

This guy is FULL ON. NO DOGING or anything. He will actully brave the breath of De Ragon and die. He healed himself though it once though. I must admit that the AI do has it's good moments in boss battles online.

Really?! . . . . <_< Humm, now I'm trying to remember what rank I had. If only there was some kind of tactic system for them...kinda like counterstrike style or Oblivion style.

Commands and stuff.

I'm pretty sure PM's will work the same way but may be a little stronger than your Trainer (Depending on you). I don't know about dying and effects in ranking. I would assume you can kick them out of the party before they die.

If your NPC is close to dying and refusing to heal himself.. Kick him out of the party and you can avoid the inevitable death that will ruin your mission ranking. Many times I've seen them just stand there with a sliver of health and refuse to heal themselves, only to die the very next time theygets hit.

(before any mods edit our posts, now that this is safely on page 2 I will say that Leo says that stuff in battle, we are just quoting him.)

It was an accident, but what can I say?

So PM and stuff is really only good if you're NOT going for ranking - like getting items and stuff.

When you bring them into battle, do their levels change, or are the partner CARD characters always the level you initially met them at?

I got Lou, and man is she durable. She gets hit for 3 damage when I'd normally take 70. I'm in love with her, man! =D

Add them to your party from the party screen... (you have their Partner Card right? Add them just as you would add anyone else)

Or, you know, you can cast Resta or use a Star Atomizer. =P

I have to say, Lou was a great addition to my party both soloing and in a big party while doing Relics. When she's level 15+ (maybe a level or two higher) she takes 0's from mostly everything and dishes out a lot of damage.

The only thing she takes damage from is the big rhino guys and the mini-boss. But, even then, she doesn't take very much. <3 Lou.

Never, ever, ever bring an AI partner along in a group... unless it's a cake walk mission with no chance of anyone dying... in which case, why have the NPC along anyway? Someone bringing an NPC along (in a group) to something like a boss battle is a bad idea, though. I imagine most group leaders will kick you so everyone's S rank doesn't get boned... since the NPCs will just run up and get slaughtered. Goodbye S rank.

I'm sure as hell not wasting a Star Atomizer on an NPC... and you're not always able to get over to them and cast Resta. Not to mention that even a boss like De Ragan can one-shot Lou with its fire stream breath if her pathing runs her directly into the attack and not just through it.

Aside from that, yeah, they're totally great for "solo" work.
