i know this is kinda a stupid question, but i still havent found out. how do you imbue a weapon with an element? like ice or fire?

You have to synthesize it with your PM. Usually weapon boards will have an ingredient as ???, thats where you put your photon choice, each one has a different effect, like strength of an element.

Guns and Wands/Rods are a different than melee. Guns become the element of the Bullet Art you equip and Wands/Rods become elemental if all the techs equipped are of that same element (Foie and Rafoie on a wand, say).

So...you're not allowed to choose the type of photon to use on guns? I was thinking of synthing a rifle with ice and use the fire bullet to counteract the lowered damage against ice types.

You CAN NOT synth guns with elements. Boards won't allow it.

When you equip a rifle's 'bullet' (just think of 'bullet' as a Photon Art), the rifle changes element to match your selection. You must synthesis an element to melee weapons, and this is permanent, unlike ranged weapons and technic weapons.
