Can you log out to the character menu?

See topic. Every time I transfer stuff for synthesis I keep forgetting details and end up switching back and forth between characters over and over, and going through the login connection stuff repeatedly was getting a bit tiresome.

I've yet to figure out a way. It's kind of lame, isn't it? =/
