Nanoblast and weapons

Does weapon damage/element damage have any effect on Nanoblast's damage? I have the power one and sometimes it's hard to get it to activate on my keyboard. I figured it might be easier do it with no weapon equipped. But I dont want to do that at the expensive of damage.

The blast badge is physical non elemental so if you feel it's easier for you to activate it w/o a weapon equiped , i'd say go for it.
