So, i'm sure we've all had those annoying parties where nobody talks. My question for you guys is what have you done to lighten up the mood? Was it effective? Would you recommend something similiar to people?

I've made a few shortcut macros for when I nanoblast.

f12:
Uragirimon! Digivolve too...

f11:
Megauragirimon!

That gets quite a number of chuckles and gets a nice conversation up sometimes. Would I recommend it? Sure, just expect to get an odd look from some people. lol

(Appropriate section? I don't know. Sorry if it's wrong.)

Here is somthing for Cast to say when they use SUV:

POWER EXTREME!!!!

Anyone by the age of 17+ should know where that came from...I'm not going to remeind you, but it was a pretty darn good cartoon.

EDIT

Actually in the cartoon, they way nanoblast are done, it's done the same way....wow.

That's a lie. A certifiable falsehood.

Personally I don't really mind if a person talks alot, I'm generally am not that much of a talker when I play games.

Me? I probably talk too much in random parties... Which is odd since I'm normally a very shy person... I imagine some people get quite annoyed of my cheesy jokes. And I really wonder if people ever get my subtle satire. It's quite funny though, I'll be laughing my ass off and giving my party GOLD! But they stay dead silent... Ahhh, I guess others don't find me as funny as I do... That and it's hard to convey comedic tones through text. But anyway, I mostly play with my real friends who get my jokes (usually).

By the way, I like your digimon macro.

I usually lighten the mood by making fun of the monsters, or coming up with spunky quotes.

http://home.att.net/~akaimizu/Nbareh.jpg

My character (Tynselle Nbareh), who lives by a set of twin guns. There's a full backstory to her, which I'm trying to improve my drawing to create a little comic for her.

In short, she grew up in a circus of sorts. Her parents owned it. "The six square Circus" When she was younger, she used to steal from people who watched the show. However, before things got out of hand, her parents caught her antics on video and she was quite repremanded for it. In hopes to give her direction, they decided to get her into the circus sooner than later. She got trained by an old Sharp shooter, who was part of the circus and thinking of retiring. She had natural talent at it, and became an act that involved sharp target shooting and acrobatic tumbling.

Anyway, sometimes I'll say stuff like.

"Like a saying that goes back a millenia...
"It's always high noon in Tynselle-town!"

or

"Welcome to the 6 square circus, monsters!!!" <--- Particularly in a full group.

On the flying monsters, she may get out a "First you fly, then you die, creep."

But I don't normally spam the same macro. I tend to invent a lot so I can say something that fits the scene. I have a lot of impromtu material.

For cut-in chat, which I use rarely. I often use the Sneer, because on her face, the sneer looks like a devilish smile. A face Tynselle Nbareh wears quite often. The wry smile comes second place. On a rare occassion, she'll reply to a situation that is either somewhat funny, or she just kicked a lot of butt, with a wry smile and a "Heh heh".

Akaimizu, that reminds me of when I played CoH... XD

Had a full backstory for my character. He was a Tanker, so I did a lot of taunting to draw aggro. Bound keys so he'd actually yell something when I taunted. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif Ahh, the good old days...

Back in PSO GC I used to semi-be in character with my HUcast. He was a l33t bot. "PWNage: Complete." after boss fights, "Running 'kthxbye' program..." when looting boxes, stuff like that.

I can already tell that I'm going to have ENTIRELY too much fun with the new cut-in chats... Regardless, I unfortunately don't actually HAVE the game yet, so I haven't got a chance to say silly things online. Once I am online, though, you can bet I'll be saying some whack stuff.

But, yeah! It's an online game! I don't know about you guys, but I play for the online and therefore social aspect. Power to the talkers, you make my games more fun! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Bump for a fun topic.

I definitely agree with ya. Taking a little time to really get in the spirit of your character goes a long way in lightening up the mood of a party, and even adding a bit of atmosphere. I don't like to have the experience feel simply mechanical whenever other people are around. The opening of social avenues is exactly what this online experience is about, in my opinion. I'll do my best to entertain and be a good help, in the group.

People may remember people who were good effective partners. People WILL completely remember people who also made them smile/laugh, or went the extra mile to create a jovial atmosphere. People who conveyed personality, and attitude.
