Difference between TP and MST?

TP is how much damage you do, MST is how much damage you take from enemy techs

Forces want to upgrade TECH

Before TP was your total magic and MSt was how much damage that magic did.

But now each weapon has a set amount of PP so what exactly would be used for?

say i have a force and i wanted to up the damage on my attacks, would i upgrade my MST or TECH?
