Grinding weapons

I know that the level of your grinder effects the success rate. A +7 Grinder is more likely to succeed than a +4. But is that all it effects? If I use that +7 Grinder on a base weapon, will it only go up to +1? Or will iit go up to +7? Also, if I have a +4 Weapon, do I need a grinder of at least +5 to raise it?

Always raises one rank per grind no matter quality of grinder.

You can use +1 grinders to grind your weapon all the way to level 10 but I don't think anyone would risk the endeavor. The weapon will almost certainly be destroyed before it reaches rank 10 even with a +3 character luck day.
