Well pretty much everything in PSOBB was paid with either other items or PDs. In this version meseta is definitly not useless but maybe it would still be nice to have some sort of PD replacer. I was thinking about Kubara Wood. It's useful for making Kubara Custom Products (rares) because people have been saying it was replacing PDs here and there.

Anyway, discuss.

It's still early to tell, but Kubara Wood could be the new PD.

Kubara Wood sounds like a Beavis and Butthead joke to me.

I'm finding that meseta is definitely holding its value right now. If the concerns about synthing s-rank and high level weps/armors is correct, it's going to cost a lot of meseta to keep buying materials for those ubers we all want. Having a toncrap of meseta is going to be great for the 24/7 players that want to synthesize and sell items for profit all the live long day - they'll get some value out of that pain in the watoossee pm they are raising to be pure.

I miss my Rati.

You still need to buy a lot of the materials for A-rank weapons, so even in the jp version, meseta is hold its value very well. I don't think there will every be a need for a replacement currency. It would kill the whole point of built in shops and such. Part of the reason why PDs became so popular was because there was no easy way to sell items.

If there really becomes a replacement currency though, I have a feeling it would be the higher star Ores. Nepitoline (12 star) and Merucline (11 star) both have market values right now of well over 10k and will likely become even more highly valued once the boards for 11 and 12 star weapons and armor are available.

This may also become true of higher rank Hard Metals, the porimaa (probably prima or something in the us version): Nanaporimaa, Metaporimaa, and Orutaporimaa.

EDIT: I included the market values because the market value of kubara wood is only like 300-400 meseta. Its almost worthless.

I see no reason for PDs to make a comeback. With player shops, you can sell items for whatever amount of meseta you want, and you can buy items in shops for whatever amount of meseta they want. No need to actually meet with other people now. Meseta is actually useful now, since you can buy clothing in shops, consumable items, and other such things as opposed to just using it to buy fluids.

It would be funny if there was a prize for some quest where you got a Photon Drop.

I'm going to guess it will be "polymer" in English.

Ahh, polymer, that would make perfect sense, I don't know why I didn't think of that.

I find so far up to A rank weapons you can buy them much cheaper than you can syth them... even if you have most of the stuff already :/

Only benifit is the elemental added to it.

so I dont see how you can synth for profit

In my experience, synthing is always cheaper than buying, except for the rarest available weapon boards (5*) and the armors (only because carbons don't drop often and cost a ton in shops, and because armors have low synth %s). But even then, yes, there's the benefit of elemental %s. Which is a huge benefit. A good element % can increase your damage quite a lot if you use it on the appropriate mobs (yes against those of the opposing element, no on mobs of the same). You really should have weapons of various elements to capitalize on this, and they perform the same as a neutral, green weapon on all other mobs not related to its element, so there's no real disadvantage.

I also already periodically synth extra weapons and armor from extra synth mats and boards that I get during missions that don't cost me a dime. So I can see how synthing for profit is certainly possible. Not to mention that, in addition to getting it cheaper, people will also be able to get weapons/armor with element %s that they wouldn't have if they were bought from the store. Some people even pregrind them for you. Buying from Player Stores is good for everyone pretty much.
