View Full Version : Items set to random? COMMUNISM I SAY!

Lol, sorry, just wanted to say that from when I first learned about the share items options. I still put it on, but it truly IS the deffinition of Communism.

Do you all like the share item rule? Perosnally, as a hunter, I would rather not have it, but if I want a force (and live) I've got to put it on...

hmm will communism perform better in a virtual world?

anyway, yea i like, wish my friends would use it. I like to be able to concentrate on battle, and as a result end up doing most of the work and getting little to no items.

and i think you mean order not random

Rare: Random + Normal: Order could be interpreted as communism, but since the items themselves have different values, it's more of a balanced gamble. Nevertheless, these option sets are necessary to stop item whores like Hunters in their tracks.

some people simply don't like to share. thus they call others communist.

May I call you commrade?

You may, haha! (Actually, I support Communism... but that's besides the point, and people are too stupid to go through with it...)

i hate items set to random personally. sometimes I will drop a few dimates for someone who ran out, or leave one behind that i find in a box. nothing worse than having that person pick up the mates that i dropped and watch them goto someone else.

both have their perks. i just like the excitement of finding a new rare that I could put to use, and the few times that I have picked one up and on the side seen it goto someone else I must say that my reaction was not exactly pleasant. since then (lost relic edge like 4 times this way) I refuse to play on random unless im grinding big time on dragon B or something and Im more interested in exp.

when im just playing for fun its finder onry. I dont need to rely on a force to heal me, im not that big of a baby.

So if you're a hunter you want to reach the loot first and take it all but when you're a force you like it to be shared evenly? I can't tell if thats greed or complete hypocrisy.... or both.

just a note, loot rules only work on the initial item drop. they have no effect on items dropped by players.

I completely agree with you guys. Add me to the list http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif I always set it to order. It even makes playing faster since evryone just picks whats near them at the moment instead of going out of their way. I'm all for communism in a virtual world and socialism in the real world as a step to the next thing ^_^

Ha Ha... You should have seen it, items set to random and a (that's one guy out of six!) guy gets a crea saber, twin crea sabers, and a copernia in LESS then FIVE minutes!!! Honest to God...everybody was like: "Congratulations, you son of a b***h."

Communism! I rarely set it to random because the guys I play with are not item whores. (Candor being one of them) I'm also often too lazy to change the game rules most of the time. I think it's a good way to fight off item whores, but can be downright confusing if you're with a group you know and trust.

Not exactly sure what this topic is about though i will say one thing about communism.

We have worker Bob and worker Bill.

String Communism = "";

If (worker Bob = worker Bill)
Communism += "perfect world;
Else If work (worker Bob > worker Bill || worker Bill > worker Bob)
System.exit

And that is communism in java form^_^.

you get lazy with the password too http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif, but when in a group like ours loot rules aren't neccessary. if someone wants something we give it to them.

Business contracts with split profits are not communism. It's actually Forces being capitalistic.

Random Rares/Set Order Normal FTW...

And this is coming from a hunter. I find with stuff set like this I can pay more attention to beating up stuff, as opposed to checking every item that drops. Besides, if you are playing with friends, they will probably help you out if they got a "rare item" that your really wanted.

I have only had one guy that played with me for more than one game we shared perfectly he was a lvl 9 hunter and me as a lvl 4 force.

Few hours later I was lvl 7 and he was lvl 11 and I think we split everything 50/50. Actually I think he let me get abit more than him.

I set the game rule to normal:order rare:order once when I made a game to solo in and had sombody join and didnt see any effect. Both of us could still pick up any of the loot..

Did I do somthing wrong?

I don't really like In Order, because 1. it resets after every mission, so it's horrible for rares. And 2. because it's in a pattern it can be exploited, unlike Random which is completely random.

Me and my friends usually play with everything Random, and if we find anything of use we usually trade amongst ourselves afterwords.

ViciousXUSMC
Nov 7, 2006, 06:05 AM
yeah I agree with you, however the reason its there is for the fact that with random is possible (not plausable http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif) that one person gets every item and everybody else is screwed :/

I dont see anybody learning the order system and being able to exploit it since anybody can pick up items (atleast when I had it set)

Communism FTW! Its true tho in a perfect world it would work and in a world where the law is truly unbreakable it is ideal.Thusly for me random: order or when with friends order : order we generaly do that to speed things up and thats what i tell people when they bitch about it not being finders keepers. That usualy shuts them up or makes them leave which is fine by me.

Yeah I noticed that everything that is dropped is from random, I miss how you had to go to a certin place.... to get certin items....

Ambrai
Nov 7, 2006, 06:57 AM
All in all it's a much better gaming experience not having to worry about rushing to a box hoping you may get item X before the ninjalooter in your group gets to it first. I'd much rather focus on clearing the stage than zerging dropped items, which should be your focus in the first place.

-edit-

I strongly support Rare: Random and Normal: In Order, and will not join a group that does 'Give Finder'.

I only play with those with whom I have trust if the non random option is used. Otherwise I use the random.

Nov 7, 2006, 07:13 AM
why are u using communist in an insulting term? anyway, I just made Shiro Ryuu a Ranger and yeah, its kinda tough to pick stuff up when using a rifle so I don't mind equal distribution somewhat now. if I wanted to loot, I would solo or spam relics with a force.

I hate give finder and find that it is usally hunter leaders that tend to not change the options. Not saying they are loot whores, just stating a fact(most are though and leave it that way for a reason http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif ) I look at it this way, do you want the force running for boxes or healing? That monomate the were going for is really going to suck when you die and loose s rank. Set in order is fair, and whats wrong with playing fair? Even if I played hunter I would still set to in order because I have respect for my fellow gamers.

Hatecrime69

i despise give finder with a passion, all it does is give the experienced people (read: those who you hated with a passion in diablo 2) all of the items, i refuse to join games that have it set that way (i do play as a force, but it's besides the point for me) I don't care if it's set to random or in order, but either way i make sure to pick up all loot, regardless of what it is to help avoid exploting

Well, then paint me red and call me a Commie (in PSU, anyways). Random and In Order item distribution makes the game much more fair and fun, because one greedy player can't steal all the loot. No one gets upset because JimBob got the rare. No one gets mad becaues SoAndSo is running around grabbing items while the rest of the team is fighting. I like PSO/PSU because of the COOPERATIVE gameplay. Working together is more fun than getting sniped all day. Random/In Order reinforces this.

What an interesting discussion. I can see where you guys think that Random/Set Order is communism, but the very fact that you have to SET these configuration options makes these no longer communism. You see, in a true Communistic society, everybody already does care about the whole and only takes what they need with equal distribution to all. When you start forcing this on people (Random / Set Order), you've destroyed the entire ideology.

No no, these settings are merely an anti-greediness measure that allows us Rangers and the Forces to get their share of loot for the equal amount of effort put in (you know, the Capitalist ideal that you get out what you put in, which makes this as far from Communism as you can possibly get http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif).

I use set in order even when playing in the same room with my GF.... Why? Well shes a hunter and burns through the mates, if I pick one up I am usually full and it immediately goes to her. Also when soloing, if i pick one up it beeps and thats all whereas if it is give finder you have to hit another button to get rid of an annoying message telling you that you are full... just my 2meseta!

i really dont care. I usually farm for items i need, and i do play with some item whores. I often get some items when they're off guard, funny scenes they are.

Stop. Calling. It. Communism. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

If you want to pick another random word with bad connotations on the internet, why not just call it "german" or "teh AIDS" or "Bush". They'd all be about as accurate, which is to say not at all.

XD i get a good laugh when people join a party with shared options that dont know how they work and wonder "how the f%@%" did someone else get the item they picked up
