View Full Version : Casts are rude..

I noticed while playing Story mode while doing missions and all the casts I ran into got a snappy aditude..

What's up with that? o.o

EDIT, Although there were two casts that seem okay. The pink cast that took care of the little annoying kid that runs a farm and the Perverted old Headmaster. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Some of the Casts believe themselves to be superior to the "lesser" biological races. Because, well, they are.

You know, I find it funny, mind I'm assuming this, that you know, Casts are robotic and all that, weren't they originally created by HUMANS and NEWMANS? Just a random guess here, and please don't shoot me for being dumb here, lol. I dunno, just throwing things otu here and I'm really tired right now so yeah, saw this, thought it as funny.

Oh and the CAST at the Guardian place is pretty funny. "I was just born" o.O: Okay then... lol

Humans were the original race, they created through various means the other races. And then they all had a war for like a bazillion years because people can't get along.

Just install windows service pack 2 on them. They wont be superior then.

If you keep on pestering them as the story goes along, most of the casts warm up to you. It seems as though the whole 'cast supremacy' thing is more a result of certain powerful forces and the bullying of many- there are more than a few who say they're cold to you because 'that's just the way things are' or 'people could be watching'. Also keep in mind that the cast supremacists are limited to just Parum, which holds about half of the cast population if I remember right.

It's kinda like the early days of a rising fascism, which makes a little sense considering a certain organization you run into during the storyline.

now in story mode aren't you warned that the CASTs are just like that to humans and newmans, i don't remember beasts being mentioned. however beast don't like CASTs... no wonder there was a war.

Schubalts
Nov 9, 2006, 01:33 PM
Maybe CASTs were neutral-ish to Beasts because both Beasts and CASTs were created as manual labor for the humans, and Newmans were meant to be the next step for human evolution? Just a thought.

heh, interesting to note. In just about any other fantasy game, humans are condicered the newest race thus everyone looks down on them. In PSU humans become the oldest race and if you note int he intro "humans and their creations". So it would seem we get the right to the superior complex. Casts can go suck a lugnut http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Humans are the original race. I haven't played Phantasy star in a while but if I remember right. Humans created Newmens to be mentally superior but incredibly frail. That way they could just use the newmens are scientist and such. Casts were created to be superior soldiers to protect them from the creatures the Mother system was creating and such. Then after a while the cast AI evolved so then Casts became superior. Kinda like the Matrix.

Why is it always the humans trying to create stuff to do labor for them and then eventually hate them.

One of the Casts in story mode wanted to go on a date with Ethan.
And another one was warning him about the other Casts.
That would make 4 casts lol

Fulyen Curtz seemed to have the hots for Maya when she was flirting with him at Mizuraki C.D., and he's supposed to be heavy on the CAST superiority thing.

Of course, i'm only up to the chapter you go to Moatoob in story mode, so maybe that will change later on? Don't spoil it please. >.<

Lou is pretty cool too. Just when you think she cares, BAM! She shoots that idea down effortlessly each time.

Errr, wow, either they've completely changed story lines or none of you likes to play classic Phantasy Star. If you were to look you'd see that Palmans created robots and androids, then later on the Mother Brain AI (Which I believe is technically made by Earthmen) created Nei and later on the Seed AI created Rika, both of which are Numan. They were created to be a more physically fit and adaptable race to deal with Motavia's harsh climate. (Because Earthmen made Palma go boom. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif)

The story is as...

Humans are the most populous race in the Gurhal System, and the original race from which the others were derived

Newmans were born of humans as the result of an attempt to create a superior species.

Beasts are a race genetically engineered for hard labor and mining in a rigorous environment.

Originally created by humans for labor, artificially created life forms, CASTs, currently rule the planet Parum.

huh....I always thought that since PSO ep4 that the people who made the Mother Brain AI was the people who came in on the Pioneer. But I'm pretty much just basing that off of the whole mother thing and the way the general guy dressed(I'm pretty sure he looks almost exactly like all those guys in the end of PSIII).

Humans did make Numans and Casts - but in the Phantasy Star Classic series they also shared Algol with the Motavians and Dezolians. Motavians and Dezolians were unique alien races which had evolved seperately from human on each of their respective planets. Phantasy Star has always been a space drama - and I for one am a bit dissapointed in PSU's races simply for the fact that there are no aliens in PSU's space.

(P.S. You could also count Musk Cats as it's own seperate race. However, they are unique in that they were not created as Protectors of Algol in the way Humans, Dezolians, and Motavians were.)

PSU and PSO are different storylines. There's supposedly no links between the past PSs and PSU.

Supposedly - but there are hints here and there that, if fleshed out, might possibly connect the entire franchise. The entire franchise might be connected anyhow - in that they take place in the same universe, but different galaxies and do not intersect.

But I'm pretty much just basing that off of the whole mother thing and the way the general guy dressed(I'm pretty sure he looks almost exactly like all those guys in the end of PSIII)

Wha?...

Mother from PSO Ep I & II was a completely seperate entity than the Mother Brain. Mother was simply an experiment in evolving AI through biological process. She wasn't even an AI in and of herself - but it was the name of a project. Mother BRAIN, on the other hand, was a hyper advanced AI network which controlled and regulated all aspects of Algolian civilization. Her role in Phantasy Star II had a very "H.G. Wells - The Time Machine" undertone to it in that, she created a life for Algolians so dependant on her, that once the Earthmen removed her, or turned her against the Algolians, they would be easy prey for their decimated numbers to massacre. Hence the destruction of Palma - the seat of power for the human race, and the only race in Algol structured and powerful enough to put up a resitance.

Mother was a creation of the scientists on Pioneer 1, but to work, it required the respective AI's )Calus, Olga, and Vol Opt) to evolve to a certain point on their own and voluntarially come back. Calus was the only one to do so. Olga wasn't making much progress, and with the imminent arrival of Pioneer 2 and the discovery of D-Cellular mutagens retrieved from Flowen body - Osto decided to speed along the process. He used Flowens body as a medium to fuse the D-Cellular mutagens with Olga's AI in order to make it evolve faster. The result was Olga Flow.

Mother Brain and the Mother Project have no commonalities aside from a similar name. Check the link in my sig for more info on Mother Brain. I'll have info on the Mother Project up eventually.
