Simple question: what is your favorite hunter weapon?

And yes, you can thank me for not making a very sick sexual joke for twin sabers.

Saber/dagger/claw and gun - a hunter only in name.

Don't agree with this statement at all. The single knife Photon Art is the most stylish in the game, and has so many separate hits you can direct it around to hit a large group, not to mention it does crazy damage with each hit. That's pure hunter, to me. The gun in the offhand is simple to give tha hand something to do. =)

So far twin daggers are my favorite. Kick ass regular attack combo. Then the pa is just awesome. That and I have never ran out of pp yet. Well did once but went through the whole stage spamming it.

Dagger + Handgun

It seems I can deal out more damage with that to more enemies in less time http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I haven't found any Kubara Wood in story mode so I haven't been able to synth Vahra Claws yet to expose myself to those, but for online i'd say my favorite weapon is a pair of daggers. Of my five slots, 3 are of Twin Rippers. Three to match the elements in said dungeon, a Shock Halbert or Shock Twin Slashers and a Frost Claymore.

I've started a CAST Ranger that will be a Figunner using Claws, Twin Claws, Double Sabers, Twin Daggers, and that's all. I'm not a fan of guns of any sort so this is kind of boring. Ranger only needs to go to 3 so that is good I guess.

Man, you made this WAY too easy.

Guess what expert classes can use that single dagger?

Guntechers (no hunter), fortetechers (no hunter), fortegunners (NO HUNTER).

My friend, there's NOTHING hunter about that single dagger! You might look at changing to Ranger; it seems you're in the wrong line of work! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

When you play Hunter you give up flashy combos and such for higher damage. You use a single dagger and sure you throw some enemies 20 feet away, but then you add time running to them to finish them off. A few seconds here may seem like nothing, but when the mission is over it could easily add up to 5+ minutes. This annoys some people, but personally I enjoy throwing enemies around the room. I don't get XP anyway so I have no problem playing like Lu Bu now.

what about the S rank figgunners and wartechers have? (the only classes that have S ranks in dagger) both of which need hunter to up? aside from the fact that EVERYONE can use a daggers (except protranser, haha)

Twin Sabers until I get the PA to 20 and then Spear until I get the PA to 20 and then Twin Daggers until I get the PA to 20.
The only bad thing about the twin sabers is that it knocks the mobs up into the air... but I only have one more level until I cap. I like the double-sabers, too... but you can only get those in offline mode.

Right now I'm mainly using single Dagger, but once Claws are released I'm gonna be doing Single Claw, so I can match my PM. I'll probably also use Spear for bosses, if I can synth the Halbert on my lucky day...

iirc luck doesnt affect your synth rates, its only item drops and grinding

Twin Dagger is a great weapon, it's fast, has alot of attacks and the PA is great for "tagging" everything so you get xp, but on the power side, and the effectiveness of the PA beyong "tagging", it's just not that great. The PA, while it's an AoE of sorts, only hits 3 mobs at a time, even if there's like 8 in range, and the second part, after 11, only hits 3 more. Twin Daggers do look pretty sweet, though. I use them, and I use gloves, because the fact that the gloves PA shoots you forward with the 3-hit combo, then again with the elbow smash and roundhouse leg sweep, while it's only 5 hits total, so far, does a nice amount of damage and sends enemies flying, or knocks big ones down. The added twist, which I love about them, since I solo alot, is that if you get surrounded during the PA, you can flick the analog stick backward right before the leg sweep and you'll hit the enemies behind you (up to 2 with the sweep) and send them flying away from you, leaving you to follow up on what's in front. All in all, I use fists, twin daggers and single dagger/pistol, though the single dagger is my main choice.

Of course, you know, this means war! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Wartechers are more force (5) than hunter (3). Does that mean daggers are more force than hunter? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Protransers are the only expert class that can't use daggers. And they DO require hunter level 5! Every class that DOESN'T require hunter can use daggers, but a class that DOES require hunter can't.

By the way, I'm shocked at the popularity of spears. I guess the allure of boss damage and high accuracy make them popular, huh?

I'm actually going Guntecher. But been toying with the idea of Figunner. I just happen to think it'd be nice to max all three normal types so that I can try out all the expert types. Plus, uhh... what else do I have to do? lol.. The game is still pretty damn fun for me, so why not?

Twin Sabers + Twin Daggers is what I plan to use. A hangun ready to go always helps. This is my first crack at hunter so so far I only have twin brands + Rising Crush(PA) but am saving for daggers, PA, gun, then hopefully some armor.

Short answer: Twin Sabers and Daggers from what I have seen so far seem like so much fun. FTW!

It's funny that our hunters are all rangers in disguise. That would clear up so many problems: people just need to get the point that they're already not hunters and to stop getting in all the real Rangers and Forces ways by pretending to be them! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Double Saber! Why? Two words: Tornado Dance. I'm not overly fond of their normal attacks though, if it runs out of PP I'll switch to my saber and using Rising... um, whatever the next word was... Gall! I can't believe I can't remember that one! >_<
