Will EU Guardian licence be up before the 24th Nov?

Hopefully you eagle eyed EU inporters will be keeping your eye's peeled to when Sega activate the Guardian licence billing for PC & PS2, and also when the Guardian lecence goes back on sale in the Xbox live marketplace. I had a look last night just to see how much it would cost, but unfortunately it said that details of the PSU Euro subscription will be shown on the 27th so unless I'm wrong it looks like we won't be able to sign up until next Monday even though the game's due to come out on the 24th (Friday).

I'm pretty sure you can't change what server you connect to unfortunately... so if your copy of PSU automatically tries to connect to the JP servers (where you don't have an account - that'll be on the US servers) then unless someone creates a patch or HOSTS file fix to change the connection you could very well end up not being able to access your own account http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

BTW, there are no EU servers, we'll be using the US servers - it's only the billing system that's holding things up.

i have an EU licence, from the market place, and can see it in my subscriptions... i got it before it got taken off the market place, before the USA launch, so it should be rebilled in the next few days.

It looks like Sega have shipped the game from their warehouses (to UK shops at least), but the retailers are not supposed to sell it until Friday.

Has anyone managed to find anywhere that will sell it earlier? I haven't yet...

US and Euro versions are exactly the same. It's possible that the Euro version may support other languages but if so that's the only difference.

It's sort of like when Blue Burst came out there was just one download which Euro and US players used, it's the same here. The only thing stopping Euro folks from playing our import/torrented PSU online at the moment is because until the 24th it's not possible for us to register a Guardian's Licence with Euro credit/debit cards.

Of course it's a completely different thing if you have the JP version since that version is programmed to connect to completely different servers.

I know one way in which your JP PSU is practically guaranteed to work with the US servers (although I'd need someone to confirm that it works) is to edit your HOSTS file (usually found at c:windows/system32/drivers/etc) and add the line:

<IP of US Server> <URL of JP Server>

The first part needs to be the IP address of the US server in numeric form and the second part needs to be the text url of the JP server which PSU is requesting.

When the game requests a connection to the server it looks for the url in the hosts file first. If the entry is there then it will attempt to connect you to the IP address you have associated with the URL in your HOSTS file... I hope I'm making sense.

Unfortunately I don't know the url of the JP game server, nor do I know the IP of the US server - but surely there are folks out there with both versions and an online account that can find this info out and test everything to make sure it works, but don't make a subscription until this method is confirmed as working http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

It has just occurred to me that there may be as many as 3 different 'lines' that need to be added to the HOSTS file, Patch Server, Game Server and Gameguard.

This shouldn't be a problem, it just means more blanks need to be filled.
